Loud buzzing from Kef PSW1000 Subwoofer

Having worked perfectly for years, suddenly my PSW1000 has started to produce a loud buzzing noise (not through the speaker unit) as soon as it is switched on (ie no signal from amp). Any ideas?

Thanks. Followed suggestions and so far the buzz is gone.

Yes. A good idea. Kill power to the sub, then unplug and remove everything from the sub. go ahead and plug it in again and check for buzzzz.
That is test one. if you have buzz still, its the sub assembly. bad luck, but not impossible. If the buzz is gone its one of the signals to the sub. They can produce a buzzz without any signal coming from your stereo equipment. Replace the feed line, enjoy! BTW...Kef sure does sound clean. good choice.

Klh powered subwoofer model ASW10-120B... when you plug in to power... it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise

I would check the caps on the power supply. They are rather large electrolytic capacitors that will look like they burst and/or leaking. When these die, the caps ground and the sub will make a loud buzzing sound. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can replace them yourself. Replace them with the same voltage or a little bigger and same with the size.

If the cap. says 16v 4700pF on it, for example, a 20v 5300pF or a 16v 6200mF cap. will work for this application.

I have a sony str-de475 and a kef PSW1000, i have the line in the left on the sub connected to the sub out on the amp, and the sub powers up, but im getting absolutly nothing from the amp and now all of a...

It's not clear if this has EVER worked or what is new in the scenario. The STR manual has setup instructions for supporting a sub. If you want to prove the sub itself works you could jack any source like, say, a CD player, into it to prove its amp will respond BUT IT WILL BE LOUD if it works.

I have a KEF KHT 2005.2 Subwoofer that does not produce sound any more, it makes a slight pop sound when i switch it on and thats it, no further sound. The system is about 5 years old but has not had a lot...

The KEF-Subwoofer range (from the PSW1000 up to PSW 3000?) have some built-in flaws in the electronic design.

I just fixed my PSW2000 working along the repairing instructions from:

http://lug.demon.co.uk/kefrepair/

Works! Costs have been about 35,- Euro for spare parts and some (too many) hours of work. If you are used to electronics and soldering you may make it in 2 hours.

I have a kef Kit100. My subwoofer is making a loud buzzing noise, what do I do?

You might have a bunch of bees living inside the sub?
You have a bad set of Audio output IC's for the sub. There is two of them. TDA7293 REPLACE BOTH!!!
There is 4 on one side of board, and 2 on other "also 1 small one" The the two are for the sub,the other 4 are for the main speakers/surround. They sell on Ebay for $6-10 each or a kit of all 6 for $25.

Subwoofer clicking noise

Hi I am afraid it sounds like exactly the same problem I had, Namely the PSU(power suplly unit) is failing, This is a common fault (by reading loads of forums) I contacted KEF today about mine and they say the probably wont be able to source any more spares(due to so many having thuis problem no doubt) So I would suggest contacting the people you bought it from,Under the consumer protection act you should expect an electrical item to "Last a reasonable amount of time" .Mine is 3 years old and I do not consider this to be a long period so kick up and you should be entitled to a repair or at worst a partial refund.Look here basically the same Sub.
