DAP 1353 No Signal Strength Increase in Repeater Mode

Running a DAP 1353 in Repeater mode. The issue is a lack of signal strength increase.
Between my wireless modem DIR 615 and the DAP 1353 are 2 x single brick walls.
Between the DAP 1353 and the client PC is 1 single brick wall.
Signal strength on the client PC for BOTH is the same and about ~20%. Would have expect a major increase in signal

SOURCE: Routers

You cannot increase your bandwidth, if that is your question.. but you can increase the signal strength and/or your radius of access (distance from the Access Point) by adding what we call 'Extenders'.

Bandwidth is determined by the type of Wireless Specs you are running.. G is the fastest 'certified' bandwidth at this time. although the new "N' will be available soon.. (it is in stores now, but not considered a 'standard' yet... The release date is not due until 2009..

Here is a good guide to the various speeds:

SOURCE: Can't get to internet anymore

Try to remove the preferred networks on your Presario then try connecting again. If you have wireless security enabled on your router, you have to enter that. Make sure that the settings on your router is the same as your wireless adapter so that they can synchronize.

If you have difficulty with that, just ask me and I'll answer as soon as I can.

Run the windows wizard to setup a network connection from the control panel. Be sure you have the security type and code if you have security enabled on the wireless router.

SOURCE: signal loss

You may be far from the modem. Try getting closer. Or it can be of interference. Is there a wireless phone in your area? try removing that.

No increase in range

Hey kenat. To increase the range of your wireless signal to increase signal strength, try pointing the antennae as approximate as possible to your receiver. If you have already tried that, then use the old Aluminum foil trick. Get a small square of aluminum foil and wrap it around your antennae. Make sure the whole antennae is wrapped with the foil and it's usually best to keep some more hanging off. Because Aluminum is conductive, this will increase the strength of your wireless signal, and at the same time your range.
If all else fails you could always purchase a multi-antennae router which usually has 3 or more antennae.

Have fun :)

How do i increase wi-fi signal strength

There are only a few ways to increase signal strength ..move closer to the source (the router) , get a bigger antenna or boost the signal...you can boost the signal with foil in the shape of a parabola around the router antenna or make one out of a vegatable strainer that will plug into the laptop(this one works best )especially for picking up your neighbors WIFI

My icon says I only have 80% signal strength, is

80% is a good signal strength....but if you want to increase the signal strength, then you need to move the wireless router to a very ventilated area, also the router should be placed atleast 5 feet away from other electronic devices like, modem, ups, microwave ovens, refrigerators etc.... also there should be a line of sight between the router and the wi-fi adapter... but in order to connect to a wireless network 25% of signal strength is enough....

It seems that the signal is strong next to the router, but drops to 1 bar within 30 feet away? What is the most likely solution.

Hi,
Routers generally have a strong signal for up to 10 meters. However no obstacles should be in the way. 30 feets is about 10 meters so the router is loosing its signal strength. If you would like to extend the strength of your router you can buy a range expander. This device acts as a repeater of the signal so from 10 meters you can go to 15 or 20 meters.

How to increase signal strength of blackberry 8700g

When I lose signal strength, which doesn't take much with this device - It can sat in the same position and go from GSM to EDGE through no movement. A sure fire way is to turn the device off and then back on. This always works for me.

Another trick I have discovered is by switching networks - options/ mobile network and changing network selection mode from automatic to manual and allowing to select available networks which can take a minute or so choosing a selection and then going back in and changing back to autmatic.

if your in a metal shed then the best way would be to mount a outdoor type access point to boost signal or just hardwire it
