I cannot choose "yes" from the home page to quit a game. in order for me to change games i must take the battery out. also i cannot access the pause menu with the "start" button when playing a game. your help would be much appriciated. thank you.
I have the same problem.. I cant put YES on home and my R button isnt working either.. but I've noticed that if I push down the power button to the HOLD lvl and then put it again to the medium lvl it works like the R button -_-'' ..
The only thing to do is to hold down the hold button for 3 seconds

i hav da same problem but all i did was...
i pressed home on the game
then i held select for like 3 seconds and then was i able to move in the home button screen
or just take it apart and clean the buttons
or hold down select and home at the same time, then let go and it works
Iy means ur d-pad is broken i had the same problem ull have to open it up and ether clean it or buy a new d-pad

Same happened to me, the Hold-switch Solution worked, but none of the other "tried out" solutions did... so the best way is to check out the D-Pad and clean it , update it, or get a pandora's battery and magic memory stick? Because I feel like if none of it works, I'd rather buy a new one =.=

I had the same problem but corrected it by turning the LAN switch to the OFF position.

could not quit game using the HOME button, prompt to quit game displayed but could not navigate using the directional button. In order to navigate, need to put it on HOLD than reversed it and subsequently the directional button allows to navigate the YES and NO options. In summary, the HOME button manage to display the quit game prompt but could not choose the options until the HOLD button activated and reversed sequentially.
I have the same problem- the D pad works fine in games, but when the home button is pressed I can't move from no to yes, and also the X and O buttons don't work- I have to cancel out of it by pressing home again.
Also now my triangle button doesn't work... I'm playing disgaea, and the triangle is the most used button and now it doesn't work! WTF is with psp buttons? I'm hesitant about opening it up and cleaning it though...

What I'm thinking is that the START button is stuck.
Because in a game when I HOLD and UN-HOLD, the start function occurs.
Meaning the START button is pressed down automatically.

My PSP Star Wars Slim's home, select, start, and occasionally the O button during the game will not work. tringle button doesn't work, also, when in "do want to exit game?" I can no buttons works except the home button to exit.... other buttons work in game except the triangle and sometimes the left or right. i have 3.71M33 firmware, and my home button doesnt work, wen i press it, the exit menu pops up, but wen i move around buttons, it doesnt move around in the home screen, it moves around in the actual game itself, cuz i can here the noise of something being selected, also, the D-Pad doesnt work sometimes, my L button keeps getting stuck, and my X button doesnt work sometimes
also, i dont think its a matter of cleaning it, because the high lighter doesnt flash wen i go into the home screen, its just a solid bar around NO

Start button doesnt work. Menu will show up sometimes and when it does it want let you choose any of the options. also select button doesnt work either. I can say one good thing the volume buttons work most of the time.
