My remote control on my toshiba 32" tv stopped working or would work periodically. I have reprogramed the remote and changed the batteries 3 different times with same result. I purchased a remote ctl from Radio Shack and have the same result. Seems to be the tv itself. Is this a difficult problem to have repaired. If so, I'll buy a new TV. Thx Claude

If it is a universal remote not branded to the tv and the batteries went dead or are out for too long then the remote lost the codes and needs to be reprogramed!
Unplugged it for an hour.... buttons changed.....Unplugged it for four hours and everything worked......Left it plugged in overnight and back to original problem....
I have been seeing a lot of Toshiba remote "eyes" (the infra-red receiver inside the TV) fail recently. If several known good remotes cannot control the TV then the IR receiver will have to be replaced. If you have no experience soldering and unsoldering PC boards then have a qualified tech handle it for you.
