SOURCE: Samsung 50" DLP tv goes on, freezes, goes black,

Hello
Unplug your TV from Ac mains socket and wit for some time, say 15 minutes or so. unscrew the lamp case, take it out, and reset it as it was, and tighten the screws. If lamp is not well tightened this type of fault will occur in DLP TVs. Also, if lamp life has out too. Check this first. If the problem perists after doing these, the internal circutary, especially to the power regulator side has some trouble with it and should be checked well. If you have a sound knoledge in digital electroncis, and the working of DLP tv [as DLP chip is very costly] only attempt to do it by yoursef at home. If not don't go further. Anyway inform me after doing these first. OK.

samsung motherboards are bad for going out. they are 125 dollars online, if you have the technical skills to replace them.. basically just plug and play, with LOTS of screws to take off.

have you examined the color wheel which faces the lamp in the set to see if shattered or missing pieces of the wheel?

Samsung DLP

Yup definitely sounds like the ballast, if not then you have a problem in the power supply. Probably some bad capacitors. Call a local tv repair shop.

Samsung 50" DLP still shuts off by itself even after replacing the lamp.

Make sure the back cover is on properly, there is a switch built in as a safety feature.

We have a Samsung DLP 69'' TV and as above, it keeps shutting off. We just replaced the lamp, which did not fix the problem. It will go on for a minute or two, then the TV shuts off and all three lights...

Previous answers are wrong unfortunately. And I'm sorry you've spent the kind of money you have to fix it. Its actually a very basic, tiny, annoying cause. So much so you'll be quite angry when you hear it: When you open the lamp door on the back of the TV, youll see a small toggle type switch that gets pushed in when the door gets re-installed and allows the TV to turn on. This is to make the power shut off in case someone tries to access the lamp with the set on. If memory serves, the toggle on my 50" samsung was blue I think. You can use duct tape or something but I actually used a very small zip tie to hold the toggle in place for a neater, less ghetto-fabulous fix. NEVER had it shut off by itself since.

My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

Samsung 50" DLP TV

Since the lamp generates a lot of heat, the fans are continuously monitored for correct function. The owner's manual should show you the location of the fans. Make sure that the grills covering the fans are clear of dust and that the fans are clean. Sometimes dirt can cause the fan blades to slow down enough to trigger the safety alert.
