SCENARIO: I go downstairs to use my computer because I have to get on the internet on it. *Uses internet* *One minute later* Internet gets dropped...now i have to repair the connection!! Yay!!!! *One repair later* OMG IT DROPPED AGAIN!!! *One repair later* OMG SCREW THIS IT AINT WORKING *Walks away, upset*
Thats pretty much a description of my issue in a real life scenario...
And just to say b4 i get any furthur, i cant replace the computer.....
Dell Dimension 4700C Desktop Computer
Does NOT have a built in wireless card, so I use a Linksys Wireless USB A/G Adapter Model # WUSB54AG
I use Wireless Zero Configuration Service
My modem is an Arris Telephony Modem
The modem connects to an Airport Extreme for the wireless
All other computers on my wireless network work just fine, but my Dell Dimension computer does not.
The computer is running Windows XP SP3, and yes i have updated the driver of the adapter to the latest version...I chatted with linksys and that got to nothing. I do have a spare Ethernet cable that i can use w/ the dell to connect wired to the router, but idk how to do that part...Im gonna need a fully detailed explanation about what to do, and if you need clarification, say so and I will post additional details... THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
Wireless internet is basically a radio, and radio signals can be interfered with. Simply running a microwave can make your signal go out. Many wireless phones run on the same frequency as your computer, which can mess it up. In any case, wired is always better than wireless.
