How do I get my Toshiba television to cummunmicate with my cable remote?

Do you live in an apartment? Could be a neighbors remote interfearing with your TV.

Press menu on remote, then setup, select cable/ant, then select whichever service you have. before leaving menu select AUTO TUNING.
That should find the channels available on whichever service you have.

If neither remote is functioning then it is possible IR sensor inside the television is faulty. This a relatively cheap to replace, if you know how to solder and unsolder electronics componets then you can replace the part yourself. If not then call your local service provider to help in the replacement of the part.

It's not the TV. Its the remote. Remote controls don't last for ever. Try a universal remote. Try Radio Shack it should do the job. Do you have a cable converter then ask your cable comapny to give you a new remote.

first try replacing the batteries in the remote, second make sure that the remote is adjusted to "tv" using the input button. The "cable/tv " selects the input being either ant or cable. google for owner's manual for more infromation..

with comcast remote with red ok select switch the toshiba codes are 11256 most likely, other codes are 10154, 10156, 11265, 10060, 10650, 10845, 11156, 11356, 11656, 11704
with comcast remote with grey ok select swithc the toshiba codes are 0154, 0156, 0060

simply look up the codes or contact your cable company for the toshiba tv codes to input into the cable remote. you may also be able to operate the cable box via the TV remote if the correct codes from the tv owners manual are entered.

Do yo have the remote? Do you have the manual? Manuals are usually available online.
If you are feeding the Toshiba with cable wiring then the problem is with the Toshiba. Maybe something as simple as the wrong input is selected on the remote control. If you are feeding the Toshiba with audio and video cables then the input to the Toshiba would be suspect. Either cabling (the inputs and outputs are plugged in wrong. If you changed anything I would retrace your steps.
