Sounds like the driver for the TV Tuner is not installed, or the video and audio drivers may not be installed properly.

Decoder problem with media center 2005

Try the Free Decoder addon K-Lite Codec Pack 5.51 posted on FileHippo.com. If not.... the Video Card may have a Driver Update and that should include the Decoder Software for TV or Cable.

No hdmi sound, no sound devices

Try to use external or internal sound card, if you find it working it means that the sound device of your Sony Vaio is the real problem. This means that you have to use another sound card device to be installed in your Sony PC, because built-in soundcards is connected to the motherboard of the PC so fixing that problem will cost you a lot.

When I try to run my live tv I get a message that files needed to display video are missing or corrupt and it asks me to restart the Media Center. I did that but it did not resolve the issue.

I think this refers to the MPEG decoders required to show TV in media center.
You need to install Power DVD or a stand alone decoder from NVidia or ATI

Happy Holidays!
well, if you got experience on reformat OS, do so, Go ahead and format and install the Windows Media Center, there could be something missing from the restored past installation.
Wheather or not you see the right drivers, in control panel, is a best way to reformat the system and if you got all the drivers, install them after the OS installation..
good luck

Hp media center m470n live tv/radio won't run

Hi Par37ron,

Select Start>Run (in Windows) and type in the following:

dvdupgrd /detect

This will tell you what DVD decoders are installed on your system. MCE2005
needs a newer decoder than other versions of MCE - try:

Video Decoder

if this has previously worked fine, then choices are: 1.) run "system restore" to an earlier date when you know it worked. 2.) re-install windows xp
