Mrjk65, If monitor still has bright, crisp images displayed on the LCD panel your monitor could be worth saving! Unplug unit from wall outlet and plug it back in! If same problem occurs then most likely problem could be a DC voltage is slightly "out of spec" or a settings panel push switch may have failed. My guess is that when STRANGE out of the BLUE things start to happen for no reason, I would suspect the "switch-mode-power-supply" to be the item at FAULT. Visit YOUTUBE for vids of "LCD monitor disassembly" , "LCD monitor repair" . You will be glad you did. Also try www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm , www.lcdparts.net , www.badcaps.net for more info. hope this helps. Bye for now. 12fixlouie.

no there is no such thing as display driver.
the monitor is bad, if the buttons are dead.
my guess is one button is stuck on,.
that monitor can plug in to any PC made with no drivers at all.
special.
only resolution matters, set that to.
1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz (60 to 75Hz)
test the monitor on 2 PC, if its bad its bad. end story.
surely you have access to 2 PC, the bad PC and one known to be good. and DO not set resolution above the above.
or it will fail. its old.
it is now 16 years old
time to upgrade no?

most if not all 16 year old monitors the CCFL black lamps
died 10 years ago, my guess is yours sat parked for 10 long years
never run all day ?

Planar Monitor PL2011M Truns off after 2 secs. Any idea what is the problem ? Thanks Amruth

Navigate to the control panel, click Start then click control panel.

Double click power options.

On the Power Schemes tab ensure that the fields are set to NEVER.

You can however set the monitor to turn off after 20min which I do recommend, to make your computer more energy efficient.

Hi My Planar (PL2010M) suddenly went black. On restart, it flashes briefly but never comes on. Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem on my Planar PD470; power supply failed after about a year and a half. I heard that their HDTV power supplies had a higher than normal failure rate. I have someone working with the company to resolve, but I'm not optimistic... Bah Humbug. How long have you had your set?

Hi,

first of all the problem is not with the monitor...
its probably a corrupted BIOS
(basic i/p o/p systems) its the chip in the motherboard which stores the configuration of your system...

one way to get around this is to,
open the case of your CPU
then on the motherboard there will be a small battery, which is called the CMOS battery ...
take out the battery from its slot...
after a minute put it back in the slot..

now you shold be able to work fine because the BIOS loads with default setting...

if this one works please give a vote

Your monitor has 3 years warranty, I would find out if you can get the replacement before opening up the case.

Monitor say Input not supported. What does this

Your graphics card is set to a resolution of refresh rate that your monitor cannot handle, This can sometimes be one of the normal settings - there is not much you can do. Each monitor has a native resolution which the monitor should always be set at yours is:- 1280X1024

My 5 yr old daughter's monitor now has a blueish green cast to it. It is a PL2010M. Did she change a setting (very likely) or is there a problem?

To find out, I would browse through the on-screen menu using buttons on the monitor to find an option "Reset to default" or "Factory Settings" or something to that effect.
