You have to remove the entire wheel from the bike. Then change it just like you'd change a front tire... remove oneside of the tire from the rim, pull out bad tube, clean rim, put in new tube, put tire back on rim, inflat tube... good to go. There are 1,000,000 videos on YouTube to show you this process.

I purchased this used and I have no clue as to how many speeds it has, how to remove the front wheel and put it back on and I would like to get new hand grips for it. Any help? Please???

Number of Speeds is easy. Count the number of cogs on the chainwheel (that's the one with the pedals), count the cogs on the rear wheel and multiply the two together. Normally 3 on the front and 6 one the back, so 18 gears, or 3 and 5 is 15, 2 and 5 is 10.

To remove the front wheel, turn the bike over, wheels in the air slacken off the wheel nuts on either side and slide the wheel up. You make have to slacken the brake to slide the wheel and tire out.

There are some manuals here. Ironhorse seems to be a budget brand available from places like Walmart and Canadian Tire

The search Query would be simply

How to Change a Flat Bicycle Tire

1) Begin by looking at your old bicycle tire, and find the dimesions of the tire on its side. Write down these dimesions, becuase you must then go buy a new innertube for the tire that is the same (or about the same) size. I suggest going to a bicycle store; at the one near me tires run about 5-10 dollars.

2) With this new innertube in hand, you can begin changing your bike tire. You must start by taking off the entire bike wheel. To do this you need a hexagonal-shaped wrench thingy that looks like this:

See the hexagonal wrenches on the left side? You're ging to need something like that to remove the wheel. If you don't already have one, you can get this one from here (Walmart.com), or you can look up 'bike tool' on Amazon or Ebay.

3) You then use this tool to remove two hexagonal bolts, one on either side of the wheel; shown here:

cda0701.jpg
Then use a flathead screwdriver or another falt object/tool to pop the outer tire off to expose the old innertube inside, like this:

4) Remove this old innertub, and put the new one around the wheel. It might seem a little big, but that's okay. Proceed by slipping the outer tire back on over the new innertube, using the same tool you got it off with.

5) Put the wheel back on the bike, screw the bolts back in, and inflate the tire to whatever PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) it says on the side of the tire.

6) You're bike is ready to ride again!

What are the hardware differences between hybrid and mountain bicycles? How feasible is it to go from mountain (fat tire) to hybrid (thin low drag tire) functions? Can I just change the wheels or is it...

Some of this will depend mostly on what type of bike youre talkin' about here. Some cruiser/comfort type bikes will have the exact same rim size as nearly all mtn bikes and will swap with no problem but a 26 and 700 size wheel is NOT the same and there is NO compatibility between tires or frame of the bike including the fork. On a standard 26x2.1 size mtn tire the smallest you could go to is a 26x 1.50 that will fit on that wheel. if you have a French 26x1 3/8 size (S6) tire then the answer is the same....NOT compatible with anything 26" whatsoever. You cannot change the wheels either depending on the frame/fork you have. All you need to do is change the tires and keep the wheels! Any hardtail mtn bike will work fine as a commuter bike if you change the tires to a thinner and smoother tire for less rolling resistance.

Need instructions for installing innertube into a bike tire

Remove the wheel from bicycle.
Take the air off the wheel, by pressing with small screw driver or fingertip on the valve while make pressure on the tyre
With the help of a tyre remover lever or with somekind of non sharpie lever, put it between the tyre bed and the tyre and try to take the edge off the bed. Once you got one put another aroun one inch appart and repeat the procedure, then try to slip one of them all around the wheel and you will end with one side of the tyre off the wheel.
push the valve of the innertube in and pull off the innertube.
Put the new innertube inside the tyre and push the valve throught the orifice on the wheel.
By hand, try to put the tyre back on the bed, is good idea at this point put some air on the innertube, but not too much, just enought to get in the tyre and far from the tyre bed.
If not possible to put the tyre back on the bed by hand use the same tool to remove, but be very very carefull not to pinch the innertube, because is very easy to pinch it.
Put air on the tyre and put it back on the bicycle
