Sometime these connectors from the desktop case front panel have labels indentifing what each connector/plug is for. From your description they could be a reset switch or LED indicators for hard disk or power light etc.
If the plugs are not labeled then trace the wires back to the front panel to identify what they are attached to.
When you connect the LED indicators to the motherboard and it does not light up when they suppose to, then turn the plug around 180 degrees.
The LED are polarity sensitive ie they only light up if the + and - leads are connected to the motherboard correctly.

I have a Roadking the original in chrome how do I wire it for my galaxy 66? It has 5 wires plus the shield wire need to go to a 4 pole plug.

If your radio is a Galaxy DX66V then I believe that the Turner Road King should be wired to the 4 pin plug with:

Pin > Usage > Connection
1 > Ground > Shield & Red
2 > Mic Audio > White
3 > Transmit > Blue
4 > Receive > Black

If you want to confirm the mic wire colors use an ohm meter to test the following:

With the mic button not pressed:
Shield and Yellow are connected together
Red and Black are connected together
Blue is not connected to anything
White is not connected to anything

With the mic button pressed:
Shield and White are connected through the microphone transformer
Red and Blue are connected together
Yellow is not connected to anything
Black is not connected to anything

Hope this helps.

I have a 3 speed fan with a red, blue, black an white wires, how are the supposed to be wired with power. the wires go to a little black box that appears to just be wires with no circuit board

The BOX is a GE splicer - with 6 wires - 2 grey power wires, then the red, blue, black, and white from the fan motor. I have the same problem and cannot find another GE SPLICER 3 SPEED SWITCH for the fan. All switches that I have tried have 4 connections.........so a WIRING DIAGRAM would be GREAT!

Can anyone offer any help? I have tried every electrical store in the area!

Thanks

Replacing a pull chain 3-way ceiling fan light switch

OK .. the thick black and white are the power for the fan , are there also white wires on the lamp sockets ..??
The thick black wire should connect to the black wire on the switch.
The small black wires connect to the red and blue wire on the switch .. two small black wires each .. that should give you a position for 2 lights , and 4 lights, on the step switch .. but there should be white wires from the lamp sockets connected to the thick white from the fan .

please respond .

Which colour wire to use to hook up a trailer for a Kia Carnival 2000,trailer leads are yellow, green,black,brown,red,white and blue(no connection). just want to know which lead goes to which in the Kia?...

Hi there,

Here is a cheat sheet I compiled that you will find very helpful:

Plug Types/Application
7 Way - RV Trailers, Horse and Utility Trailers
6 Way - Horse, Stock and Utility
4 Way - Utility Trailers

Columns are Color, Function, Mark on the plug.

Seven wire Trailer plugs
:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Yellow = Left turn/Brake - 5
Green = Right turn Brake - 6
Orange or Purple (not both) = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Recreational Vehicle:
White = Ground - 1
Blue = Electric Brakes - 2
Green = Tail and clearance lights - 3
Black = Battery, aux power - 4
Red = Left turn/Brake - 5
Brown = Right turn Brake - 6
Yellow = Auxilliary or Reverse - 7

Six wire trailer plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Left turn/Brake -LT
Green = Right turn Brake -RT
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - TM
Red or Black (not both) = Battery, aux power - A
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Recreational Vehicle: (color, use, plug mark)
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Not used -
Brown = Right turn Brake - RT
Green = Tail and clearance lights -TM
Black = Battery, aux power - A
Red = Left turn/Brake - LT
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Four wire plugs:
White = Ground
Yellow = Left turn/Brake
Green = Right turn Brake
Brown = Tail and clearance lights

Ground should be 10ga.
Others 14 ga

Best regards
Mike

I am converting a 3 prong dryer to a 4 prong plug. The wires inside the dryer are black/yellow, white and blue. The wires on the plug are white, black, red and green. I am assuming the green is the ground...

on plug white is neutral, black is power , red is power, green is ground. black/yellow and blue are power and white is always neutral ie. (white to white) black to black/yellow, blue to red. green to grounding screw on machine

Where do you connect the blue wire

Next time don't lose the instructions.....

Black is your answer...

If just simply hooking the blue and black together with the black from the switch/power supply does not work you need to replace the wire going to the fan with a 12/3 wire(white,black,red,ground) along with a switch, what you have now is a 12/2(white,black,ground)

Here is the following way it should be hooked up using 12/3 romex to the fan from wall switch.
White,Black, ground power supply
Make sure 12/3 is fed to the fan location.
From the power you Y off the black to the red with a piece of red wire to the switch.
Then from the switch is red wire.
Then at the fan red connects to blue, black connects to black, white to white, and ground to ground.

Connector pulled off power buton wires

Hi ford, the most common case colored wires used for negative - is white. The colors blue, red, green are usually positive +. The internal speaker though it uses a 4 pin connector only plugs onto the 2 end pins. Black is connected to negative - pin & red is connected to + positive pin. (Depending on the MB model).
All these case LED's use 5volts DC. If you make a boo-boo, don't freak out. You can usually shut down the system & turn the connector 180 & re-connect it with out hurting the board. Suggest you connect 1 at a time & check in-between each.

Still having trouble, include the name & model number of the MB.
Good luck!
Mike
