WS-55819 uses two of the STK-392-570 convergence chips-----usually it is not a soldering problem--I have seen dozens of these sets that use this chip--some of the chips before they totally fail do this--convergence comes and goes--I have also seen several when I unsoldered them that the pins literally fell out of the chips--

I HAVE START TO FINISH, STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS REPAIR IN THIS SET--if you can solder well and are handy--you can buy a pair of the chips on Ebay for less than 13 dollars plus shipping.

I cannot give you my email address but..........

I have also photos of a few things you need to look at if you do this repair----The instructions tell you how to do the repair and also tell you EVERYTHING you will need to do it.

If you have some idea of how I can get the instructions to you other than here let me know--

Take my word for it---if convergence is jumping in or out you need to replace both chips and the set will not have this problem again for 5-8 years--lifespan on these parts.

IF THIS information has helped you, rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Sony KV-36FS210 intermitted horizontal comes and goes nothing is coming up on self test. notice when tap lightly if facing tv on right side it stops. took back off just don't know what I'm looking for....

Sounds like a loose contact. Check all the solder terminals at the horizontal output as well as IC terminals, for any loose or dry solderings. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder-bridge short in between adjecent solder terminals.

Hello
There must be some loose contact with the t'Con board of your tV. Just look for it. Just unplug and replugh all the strip wires goes to T'Con board. This must solve the problem to your Tv. OK.

Hello. I have a LG 47lg50-ua that when turned on, the right half of the screen goes white. The left half still plays fine. The warrenty had just expired so. I took the back of the tv off and looked around....

If you changed the Ribbon cable and its still the same then the T-Con board would of probably gone faulty. Lots of weird screen problems can be accounted for the T-con board.

Samsung HCN4727W Rear Projection TV, green screen, audio works

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai2_bing.gif,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Shadow on Flat Screen TV

Projection TV correct? This may take some work but it is common for a spec of dust to settle onto the Mirror inside the TV, The back side of the TV screen or onto the Lens from which the Video image is projected. Some TVs have ports that allow you to access the inside of the TV from the side, others you must remove the screen.

This is not something to do every day or every week and it will not improve the picture. You only do this when you notice that it is dirty. Any more than that and you yourself will create a bigger problem. ONLY LIGHTLY DUST the screen. Soaps, water and windex will leave streaks, damage the screen and cause more trouble.

Projection TVs are the eqivalent of a big flashlight showing onto a wall. Put you hand in front of the light and you get a shadow.

Inside you TV there is a light (the TV picture) that bonces of a mirror attached to the inside of the back of the TV. The light reflects off the mirror onto the back of the screen. You view this refelected image from the front. Spiders commonly make webs inside the TV that appear in the picture. Dust Bunnies may get blown into an area and become stuck in the way. Sometimes a lite tap, shake or blow may remove this also.

Screen showss double picture

Good Day, cs81801;
It sounds like the TV's Convergence Circuit has failed.First, try
to reset TV by unplugging TV from A/C source, for 2 to 5 minutes. Then plug TV back into outlet. Also, try the Magic Focus button on front of TV.
Still no work? To fix yourself call 1-800-458-6053 and ask for KIT 10. This will provide you with all the parts you will need. These are soldered in parts, or call an Authorized Service Center and have them give you a written estimate b4 repairs are performed. Cost? between $450 to 650 depending on your location and Service Center. Good Luck, big IRISH.

No picture, sound ok

I have a similar issue. Sometimes the entire screen goes black and sometimes only one-half - either the top or bottom half goes black. The only solution we have found is to gently tap the TV (usually the front side) and the picture will come back for awhile. It almost seems heat related as it only goes out after the first 10 minutes of use. There must be a fix to this.
