We forgot our Linksys WRT160N network key/password

Please see if you have a secured wireless network.
Go to 192.168.1.1 from Internet explorer.
User id =blank
Password =ADMIN
Go to wireless security tab and get the security key from there
try this while connecting to the network.

Turn over router and check in the bottom default access IP address and then type that IP address in to your browser. Then it shall ask you for ID and password. Enter `Admin` or `admin` as ID and `Password` or `password` as password. You will see a web based setup opened in front of you. Go to the Wireless Lan settings and then you will SSID so change the SSID and this would be your network`s name. Then go to subsection security and select WPA2-PSK or simple WPA-PSK then enter your desired network key. Once done with all these things the click apply and reboot if prompted.

Use first the default username and password according to your router's manual. If it doesn't work reset the router. Look for the reset pin hole on the back of the router. Press and hold it down for 1 seconds.
After that use the default username and password for sure this time it will work. As soon as you are able to access the configuration page of your router please setup a new WEP key to keep you network secured.

The default password is "admin" with the username as "admin" as well. If you have changed the password and forgotten it, then feel free to reset the router to factory settings by keeping the Reset button on the router pressed for more than 30 seconds.

Linksys routers are simple home based or small network based routers. So unless you have set up your router for some special functions, you won't lose anything that you can't set up again.

Easiest thing to do is reset the router to factory defaults and then reconfigure it. There should be a recessed button on the back of the router, press it in with a paperclip or something and hold down for about 20 seconds. If it was a wep key, there are utils like wepcrack that can try and scan your wireless net and crack the key for you but really, that would be more work than just resetting and reconfiguring the device.

If you forgot the WEP of your wireless network, but you think you left the admin password the default, then you can access the router's configuration utility by opening a web browser to http://192.168.0.1 (or 192.168.1.1, depending on your network) and entering the default admin password. You can then go to the wireless security area and enter a new WEP and this time, write it down! :-)
