Hi , does any body know free softwares for DICOM enable machine. and is any card to be inserted into the PC to activate that software.
Should i directly view the images and vedios on my PC.
I am sorry to ask you another question, but in order to give you the appropriate answer, I have to know your exact needs.
You want to record the images and cine loops and currently use a video/frame grabber to capture these signals into a computer.
If you are a specialized Ultrasound doctor, why don't you use the DICOM standard for storage and archiving? There are great free software packages out there you can use for this! It will give you the best medical solution for this purpose and if you need after exam measurements etc, all the image display information (pixel info etc.) is already available in the DICOM information. Any DVD recording will give you a limitation in these functionalities.
If you want to proceed with DVD recordings, please be aware that the average Ultrasound pixel resolution is 512 x 512. Besides this, Ultrasound is always noisy and kind of "blocky"..The DVD will never increase this quality and can only downgrade it if incorrectly setup.
If you need more help or information about DICOM use, please let me know and no, I will be obliged to provide you with more information about this great standard.

Thanks for the response. The video originates from the ultrasound machine and is transmitted via S video to the CPU that records the images using a video capture card ( Winfast ). Our images are still pixelized despite using DVD format. Can you recommend a better capture card with high resolution. thanks again
What are you exacty doing ? The Ultrasound system has an S-VHS output and you connect that to the DVD Recorder. That sounds good enough. But what is the purpose of the Winfast Capture Card? What are your intentions? Copy DVD recordings into your PC? Why don't you use a Digital Capture card with an S-VHS input ? Is the Ultrasound Image presentation on your PC the problem ? Then look for a better capture card.
