Citizen Watch stopped running two months after purchase. Tried to replace battery but discovered it didn't have one that could be replaced. It is an Eco-drive and worn very infrequently.....

Since it's eco-drive you can just wear it for a few hours and it should self-wind. The problem is that when it sits still for more than a few days it winds down. It gets its power from the natural movement of your wrist as you walk around.

Once it starts ticking again you'll just have to set the time correctly.

SOURCE: how do you adjust a stainless steel strap of a citizen eco watch

If there are screw on each side- you have to use two screwdrivers simultaneously. If not- read the rest:
You may or may not have arrows inside bracelet. Arrows are pointing the way the pins must come out. First you have to find out what sort of pins or even screws are used to keep links together. Examine both bracelet sides and find the side where pin ends have a groove. Start with a tiny screwdriver and unscrew one of the screws. If it turns, but doesn't come out, that means you have a pins instead. For removing pins the best would be pin removing tool (approx.5GBP on ebay), but it's possible to do the job without it. Take a hardened steel needle and blunt the sharp end to the approx. size of pin end diameter using any sharpening stone or sandpaper. Get an old towel and fold it to make a soft base for work (like small cusion). As you don't have a special bracelet holder you will need a pair of helping hands to hold the bracelet steady upright. You will need small hammer and pair of flat nose pliers as well. NOTE: The pins MUST be driven split end out first, not vice versa. Make sure that the grooved pin ends are facing towel, not the needle and hammer!!! Now place the watch on the folded towel, take that needle and smallest hammer you have and start driving the pin out using light blows. Do Not hit hard, as you will brake the needle, scratch your watch or even injure yourself. Watchmakers are using 45 gram hammer, so, calculate your strength of blows. After a few blows check if the split end is coming out and when you see that the end is long enough to grab it with pliers, pull the pin out with pliers. When pulling, do NOT turn pliers, as pins tend to brake when twisted. Use firm grip and your strength to pull the pin without twisting. After shortening the bracelet or adding extra link(s) make sure that the pins go back EXACTLY the same way as they came out- the blunt end first in the hole and the split (grooved) end last. Before doing that check remaining pins in bracelet to make sure that you put them back from the right side of bracelet. It is recommended to use plastic hammer to drive pins back in or you will scratch or damage bracelet. If plastic hammer is not available use an old toothbrush handle (or some plastic item) as an absorber. Simply put pin into the hole as deep as you can with your fingers, put the toothbrush handle on split pin end and hit handle, not the pin. Make sure that pin ends are flush with bracelet. If needed- hit few more times. Job done! If you do not want to do it yourself, any jeweler will do it in a matter of few minutes.

Citizen eco drive stopped working

Bad capacitor (Titanium Ion Battery)... probably a $30 or so repair on a fine watch.

Just purchased the men's Citizen's Eco Drive Nighthawk (Black) ca0295-58e and the second hand on the watch is not ticking. I previously set the date and the hour and minute hands have moved, but not much....

Put the watch in any form of light for some time. Sun is best but not necessary. When the second hand stops running, it is a sign that the capacitor is low. The eco drive is a solar powered watch. When exposed to light, it converts the energy from the light and stores it in an internal capacitor which is really a battery that will last about 20 years.

Has stopped completly

Being an Eco drive watch it needs light to make it work. Place under a light source for a few hours an see if this works. If not it will need a new power cell, which is like a rechargeable battery for them. It will need to be purchased from citizen or suitable watch maker

How to a recharge a citizen eco drive silhouette ladies watch..model number sy2030-54E?

Do you mean, you haven't been wearing that watch but to put it in the drawer for a long time?
If so, to recharge the battery, just put your watch outside or anywhere it can catch the sun ray or day light. After few hours or about a day, the battery has been re-charged and your watch will work.
If it still doesn't work after doing that, buy a new watch. Don't bother to repair the watch or to replace the Eco-Drive battery, because of the cost.

Does this watch have an eco drive? or just a regular battery. It doesn't seem to work. EK2794-56H Citizen women's two-tone bracelet watch.

I coouldn't find your watch on their web site but all the "eco" watches I saw had "eco drive" on the face. If could be that if it is an eco drive, that the battery has run down and needs re-charging.

If you go to "citizen.com" and on the upper right there is a menu. Click on "technical
support" and then "recharge guides" you will see what you need to do to fully recharge the watch (basically it needs to be left out in the sun for a few hours0.

Eco-drive watch stop working, after it was in jewelry box for over a year.

First, be sure that the stem is fully pressed in. Pulling out the stem to set the watch stops the action.
The Eco-Drive is still a battery watch. It just has a solar/light powered recharge system built in. The battery will run down after a year of no light. Place the Eco-Drive in bright sunlight for a couple of days in order to recharge the built-in battery. You may recharge the watch in fluorescent light as well, it just takes longer.

How to replaced a eco drive battery

The ECO series of Citizen's do not require battery replacement, as they are solar powered. If the watch stops due to a long period of non-use, there is a procedure in the manual as well as the Citizen website on how to get it running again. You will have to expose it to light for several hours (but not with lots of heat such as a car dash) to get it running. If you continue to have trouble, you may have a problem with the watch. I bought my wife a ladies ECO drive about 8 years ago and bought one for myself about 2 years ago and have not had a bit of problems with either. They are extremely good watches and it is nice not to have to worry about "when will the battery die?"

Citizen eco drive 8700

Your watch capacitor is unable to recharge to the needed voltage. Try to put in on window sill in sunlight or under the bright lamp and leave it for a few days.
If it will not restart after doing thet, you will need to find your nearest watch repair shop and ask for capacitor replacement.

Constant watch problem

The Citizen Eco Drive watches use special recharchable batteries. Not all watch repair man understand this. If you are unlucky they tried to replace the battery with an ordinary one. Replaced crystal could be 2 things, logical is the timing quartz crystal was replaced by swapping out most of the electronics, second is they talked about the glass being replaced - I do not expect so. Call or email Citizen and explain; keep the watch handy so you can read them the numbers from the back.
I started collecting a couple of watches and I noticed sometimes a jeweler replaces them with an ordinary battery. The watch will work and at the same time it will try to recharge this one until it explodes! In newer models they made it harder to use the non-rechargable ones by adding a special connector or clip to the rechargable battery types.

Okay, if you say your battery goes bad, or watch does not run okay? It may have lost the charge over time. First thing to try is to leave it on the window sill so the dial is in the sun. It will start ticking, but please leave it out there for 3 days to a week. The seconds hand will tick irregularly in steps of one and two seconds, to show you it wants you to readjust the time, as it knows it has lost time. Adjust the time and it should run smoothly.

The seconds hand should run in single second steps, if it takes steps regularly, but every 3 seconds or so, it tries to tell you that its power level is going down. It will be able to continue for one or two days, but you should get it into the sun more often.
Charging the battery under a lamp is possible, however this heats up the watch and this may reduce battery life. As long as the watch keeps running I believe it should keep good time. It is quartz anyway. If this is not the case, and a good sunbath does not help, the mechanism could be running heavy, possibly due to overheating the watch; no help there...

If you need to know more about the Eco Drive, look for detail tech manuals for all types here: http://www.citizenwatch.com/downloads/tech/tech.htm

Those are great watches as long as you remember it needs light to charge.
