I have a transcend 4GB pendrive. it has become write protected due to virus. how can i format it. i have tried many processes but can't get my pendrive formatted.pls help

Some usb keys or flash drives have a little switch thatlocks it & makes it read only. Try looking for something like this. Or youtry following these steps:

For USBdrives:

1. Open Start -> Run...
2. type diskmgmt.msc and press enter
3. right click on the partitin you want to format (where the leter and is)
4. select 'Delete Partition...' and confirm
5. right mose button in the same place and select 'Create partition'
6. select primary partition
6. select , file format, disk leter, label etc should be all right if youleave defaults.
7. click ok

This will recreat the partition and format it in proper way.

I have a Sandisk 4GB pendrive. It is affected by some virus. So i am not able to open and format my pendrive. What shall i do to recover my pendrive?

you can format your pendrive.

follow the steps to format:

right click on my computer.
select manage.
select disk management.
on right side select your drive.
(tips. your pendrive is in removable media. so see in this group)
right on drive,you want to format.
then select format.

If it doesn't work then try out this steps on safe mode.

Whenever i connect any pendrive to my laptop, all the folders in the pendrive gets converted to shortcuts and iam unable to acccess those folders. i hav scanned my system for viruses but nothing found....

There are issue with your Pendrive its having Virus Pls remove virus of your pendrive via virus removal tool .

your pendrive is infected with Autorun virus
to remove this virus install malwarebytes (It is a antimalware software )
scan your whole computer with your pendrive
when you remove the virus format your pendrive .

If the above method is not work
Try to format in other operating system
like in vista or in 7 but not in xp

My friend's pendrive was infected by a virus. when she opened the my computer folder, she couldn't even see her pendrive icon. so, what can she do?? i don't know how to help her..

you can protect ur pc permanently frm such further viruses from these pendrives
first u have to search this software(Naevius_USB_Antivirus) in cnet.com ,.............instal it and then insert ur pendrive,...........and click on it,......PROTECT,.........this will protect ur pendrive permantly........after that u don't have to format ur pendrive again n again,...........
also don't ever delete two files,.......(Read Me & Autorun),...............

I have a kingston 4gb pendrive, currently i have a problem with new folder in it. i never put any new folder in it and there it appears to have 'new folder' thr. when i try to open it, it wont open, and...

best thing to is plug your pendrive into ur computer
now make a new folder onto ur desktop
right click on desktop-options -new folder
now right click in new folder -scroll down to rename -and type a name u can remember
now open your pendrive
pick all your folders you want to keep
hilte all except (new folder)now right click and pick desktop then the folder you named now give it a name at the bottom now press ok
once done
take out pendrive
now check your files are in the folder you renamed
now plug pendrive in right click -options format
once formatted your pen drive is empty and ready to use again

AUTORUN.EXE & RECYCLE VIRUS

You need to do a low level format on the pen drive and the system drive. I have found by using programs like kill disk is the best way to get rid of a worm virus. A regurlar format will not work, unlike what they say to you. Kill disk will stop all running prorgrams on the drive. What it does it rights zero to the pen the drive. After that you need to do the same to your system drive. Otherwise you will be back to square one.

Removing write protected

Your pendrive is infected with Autorun.inf virus
to remove this virus install malwarebytes (It is antimalware software)and scan your whole computer as well as your pendrive when you scaning finish remove all threats

IF the above method is not work

Try to format in other operating system like windows vista or in windows 7 because in vista and 7 you can force format your pendrive

Try formating in safe mode, as well as make sure that all the programs and utilities are stopped before formating it( you Can use Task Manager for that) ,Use an updated anti virus program for scanning it from viruses.
