My HP 2840 has a persistent "Engine Error" and will not print.
Engine error is the fact the the printer isnt turning, also may have a fault in one of the circuit boards.

its the problem of the spinning wheel which pulls the paper that is called engine and that is either getting blocked by any dust particles or got broken internally and has to be cleaned or replaced to make it proper.

hello i have the same problem with hp2840 .engine motor is displayed then i press menu button.and the ready light blinking along with the orange exclamation light.also the message scanner bulb warming up is displayed.thanks

In case of Engine Error message try to print config page
Look at end of this page, to the section "Error log"
If there are logged errors 41.2000 try to replace laser assembly, it should help
