Changing the Administrator

Just received an HP Media Center from my older brother, because he didn't like Vista. My problem! HE is still listed as the Administrator, and I want to remove him and put myself as the Administrator.

Thanks for you assistance!

You can change the user name to your name from within User Account.
In order to change the user name, first log in to the Computer using the Windows built in administrator account.

Click Start--->All Programs--->Accessories.
Under Accessories, right click on the "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator".

This will open the Command prompt.

On the Command prompt, type net user administrator admin /active:yes then press then Enter key.

Make sure that you're performing the above procedure after logging in using your brother's administrator account.

Next, log off the account and you'll see an extra login account on the logon screen named "Administrator".

Click on the Administrator and enter admin as password to log in to the built in administrator account.

From withing the Administrator account, go to the user account and click on your brother's account to modify in a desired way using the options available there.

I have a hp rc6 remote control but it is not working with my elitebook 8440p i want driver ... please tell me how can i get its driver from internet ?

did you get the RC6 with the PC new or are you attempting to add it. ?
HP MEDIA Center rc6 remote,
control,

way post and not say OS,?" is this XP, VISTA or W7?
???????????????????????????????????????
and did you ever upgrade the OS or replace the HDD.?
all history matters. we can't see what you have !
so..... tell it. please.
there are 6 drivers is way,,, ( or just 2) 1 for XP and 1 for vista /w7

try a new battery? in it, be like first. think.always.
the drivers are NOT on the internet they are at HP,
its 100% custom HP hardware here.!!!
you are not asking at HP, why? this is fixya , has zero to do with HP ever. ever go to hp support forum and ask. be wise no?

HP real
https://support.hp.com/us-en

now all your drivers for that PC.
one post says
Try installing the "ENE CIR driver" on the link below.
the hp support page has no driver there, for this feature.
its an error that. or Im on the wrong page.(easy lacking full service tag data)
HP puts most of these drivers under
Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
SP41705.exe supports below (note the secret FTP links)
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41705.exe
Windows 7 (32-bit)
Windows 7 (64-bit)
Windows Vista (32-bit)
Windows Vista (64-bit)
MY wild guess is this PC is a media center edition?????
there is no MCE, page at HP for this exact PC, only generic.
and no such file listed there. thus HP, FTP links to lost files.

endless hits on this missing RC6 driver, here.
mostly do to owners changing the OS and not loading the HP drivers off your HP driver page.

HP TSGH-IR02 Remote Control how to install

This document pertains to HP Media Center computers with Windows XP, Media Center Edition.Use this document when the remote control does not work correctly with the Media Center software.Troubleshooting the remote controlUse the following items to troubleshoot when the remote control does not respond or when the remote control does not work properly. For example, when a key is pressed the selection moves all the way to the top or bottom of a list, or moves a selection many different places instead of the item you were trying to select. Before attempting these steps, make sure that PC has been updated with all of the latest Windows updates. Many updates for Media Center, like Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver, can be downloaded easily through the Windows Update software Tool.
Make sure that the batteries for the remote control are installed correctly and charged.Make sure that the front of the remote sensor is unobstructed, within a 45-degree range, and is less than 26 feet (8 meters) away. Disconnect all devices that use a USB connection except to the receiver, keyboard, and mouse. Restart the PC, and then try the remote again. If a pressed button repeats itself (sticks), unplug the IR receiver from its USB connection, wait one minute, and plug in the IR receiver. If the pressed buttons continue to repeat, alter the lighting conditions in the room or move the location of the IR receiver. Other remotes and HP Media Center PCs within range can also cause this issue.Try pressing the Enter key on the remote after changing a channel. If the remote control works when using the media center software, but does not work when changing the television channels, re-configure the Media Center software settings for the cable set-top box or satellite receiver
Point the remote control towards the IR receiver and press a button. A faint red light should appear on the IR receiver. If the light appears, then the problem is probably in the software that is using the remote control (most likely the configuration of the Media Center software). Close the software, restart the computer, and then re-open the software to solve this issue.

Troubleshooting the IR receiverThe IR receiver is the small device that receives the signals sent by the remote control. Use the following steps to test and reset the IR receiver.Disconnect the IR receiver from its USB port on the computer, maximize the Media Center window if it is open, and then reconnect the IR receiver. Test again.Point the remote control towards the IR receiver and press a button. A faint red light should appear on the IR receiver. If the light appears, then the problem is probably in the software that is using the IR receiver (most likely the Media Center software). Close the software, restart the computer, and then re-open the software to solve this issue.Click Start , right-click My Computer , and then select Properties .Click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.Click the plus sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. If the eHome Infrared Receiver is listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers, Windows is properly detecting the IR receiver. If eHome Infrared Receiver is not in the list, or there is an exclamation mark or a question mark on the device, perform the following until eHome Infrared Receiver appears correct in Device manager:Unplug the end of the USB cable on the IR receiver from the computer and plug it into the same USB port.Plug the end of the USB cable on the IR receiver into the front USB port on the computer.Disconnect all other USB devices, leave the IR receiver plugged in, and then restart the computer. Plug in other USB devices after the IR receiver shows up in device manager.Figure 1: IR receiver listing in Device Manager

Testing the remote controlUse the following steps to check the responsiveness of the remote control:
  1. Open the Media Center software by double-clicking the Media Center icon the desktop or by pressing the green Start button on the remote control.
  2. Click Settings , and then click General .
  3. Click Check Your Remote , and then click Next .
  4. Press the numbers on your remote control. The corresponding numbers on the numbers on the screen should glow when each button is pressed. A faint red light should also glow inside the IR receiver each time a button on the remote pressed.
  5. Click My control is working properly , and then click Next . Do not click I am having problems with my remote control as this will not do anything.
  6. Click Finish after you are done.

Sandisk is not detected in Vista operating system notebook

See the FAQ here - http://www.sansa.com/support/sansa_view/faqs

The most common reason for this problem is not having the latest Windows Media Player installed, or having a Windows OS version that is not supported by the Sansa player.
The Sansa players support Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista and above. If your operating system version is supported by the Sansa player:
SOLUTION 1 – Download and install the latest Windows Media Player

SOLUTION 2 – If that didn’t help, and you are running Windows Vista, apply the following hotfix - KB940199
SOLUTION 3 – If that didn’t help, download and Install the MTP Porting Kit (click here)
SOLUTION 4 – If that didn’t help, try connecting the device to the PC using MSC mode

I have a HP TouchSmart computer. The Brother MFC 9160 printer won't print. It will print from my HP Lap Top. The printer lights up indicates receiving data. However, only one blank page comes out.

moz-screenshot.jpgTry unplugging printer USB and reinstalling printer software from disk.
  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • use the disk and run the install file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.

My tablet laptop help

First of all, we need to check whether the Webcam is listed in the Device Manager or not.

Follow the instructions to access Device Manager in Vista :

Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
In the window that opens, click on Device Manager in the left pane of the window.
The Device Manager opens in a seperate window.

In the Device Manager window, you sholuld be able to locate the Webcam which sould be under Imaging Devices or Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

If it is listed, you need to right click on it and select Disable to disableit.

Now, right click it again and select Enable.

Now, try using the webcam.

If the error message still appears, try stopping the Windows Media Center Receiver service which will be actually used when any video capturing device is being used like a TV Tuner Card in Notebooks.

Click on Start and type Services in the Search box.

Right click on the Services among the results in the top of the start menu and select Run as administrator.

This will open the Windows Services window.

In this, locate the Windows Media Center Receiver Service and right click on it and select Properties.

In the Startup type, select Manual and click on Stop button to stop the service.

Now, close the window and restart the Notebook.

You should be able to use the webcam normally.
