I am looking for a owners manual for a fisher 177 it has a turn table reciver and a 8 track tape with the big speakers.
My mother had it down in her cellar for many years and she wants it to be working but I seem to have problems with the setup the sound is not coming from the speakers what do I do??
That is why I am looking for the owners manual.
Hi, I'm looking at the schematic and service manual for the Fisher 177. Each speaker must be connected between the "Main" and "Common" terminal for sound to come out of the speakers, there is a Main, Common and Remote terminal for both left and right speakers, for a total of 8 speaker terminals. These will be separate screw or push-in terminals, NOT standard RCA jacks. Try the AM radio first, since this is the part that will probably still be working if the tape machine and turntable have failed. The Power switch must be set to either "Main" or "Main and Remote" for the speakers to work. If still no sound, rip that selector switch back and forth several times to clean the internal contacts, also try the headphone jack. If still no output, "exercise" all controls back and forth several times to clean them as well. If still no luck, your unit needs service. I can scan you a copy of the service manual for $20 if needed (sorry, I'm in the business and have to charge something). Good luck! And yes, I take in repair work from all over the country - my flat rate to fully repair that unit would be $200 plus return shipping. My website is www.Barrys8TrackRepair.com No phone calls accepted, but the website does have my e-mail address.
