Vizio 42 in. LCD TV Logo

When hooking up our 42L to a direct TV cable box via the standard coax, the picture is terrible with green lines filling in all the dark places. I then unhooked the coax and used a set of audio / visual cables. It worked fine for a while then went green again. This morning the picture is OK.. but I am afraid it will not last. Advice?

SOURCE: moving line through plasma and LCD TV's

This is a very common Ground loop problem. The quick cure is to put a 2 prong to 3 prong adapter on the plugs which effectivly removes the ground from the circuit and stops your lines. Have fixed over a hundred TV's since the 60's that way.

How do i hook up mono tv with eterxnal speakers with a dvr box

If the DVR has RCA-type connectors, yellow to yellow for picture, and white to white for sound. Tune tv to line input.
If the DVR supports outputting everything on coax, use a piece of coax cable, and tune tv to channel 3.
Your coax cable from wall has to go into DVR first, then out to tv.

Signals to the tv from other sources and the image is P and G

Soon as though you have your wiring mixed up. Those leads, colors you describe are for Compnent Video signal....Red Green Blue. Now  the Others  are for Audio Visual signal , Yellow, Red, White... They are NOT compatable. IE: You cannot mix them. Check in your manual as to what  types of lead is needed how to wire it up..

I have a comcast digital converter box and i need the manual to hook it up to a tv

Here is the easiest way...

1. Connect coax cable from the wall to the "Cable in" on the cable box.

2. Connect a coax cable from the back of the TV to the "To TV" output on the back of the cable box.

3. Tune your TV to channel 3

4. Plug the power cord into the back of the cable box and into a power outlet.

5. If you do not have a picture call Comcast and ask them to send a signal to activate your new box.

6. Enjoy your new programming.....

Good Luck...

LCD TV IS CONNECTED TO CABLE USING SATELITE. CABLE IS RUN APPROX 150 FT FROM SAT DISH TO TV. RECEPTION IS VERY GRAINY,,,IS IT THE LENGTH OF CABLE? THE CABLE IS 100FT CONNECTED TO 50FT CONNECTED TO TV....

Is the satellite receiver HD or standard?
If it is standard you should hook up the box to the tv via RCA cables (Yellow/Red/White) and this will help with the picture quality.

If it is a HD receiver then hook up the box to the tv using a component video cable and this will drastically change the quality of the picture.

Using a coax cable to attach from the box to the tv essentially is connecting an analog signal to the tv and this will produce a lower quality picture...

Good Luck!!

Snow on screen and no picture on my DS35510

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, if the previous system/connection works then we should leave that as it is. Coax-Sat Receiver-Coax-DVD Recorder-TV and TV should be Channel 3 (or 4).

On the new Sat Receiver, coax from LNB/Dish to Sat Receiver, yellow, red & white to TV. TV should be set to Video 1 or A/V or Video. There should be no snow, rather if no reception, it should be blue indicating video has muted in the absence of a good signal.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Denon avr-1907 sound from TV stopped working

Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).

Female coax connector in tv bad?

If your cable converter box has audio/video connections on the back of it,you don't need to worry about using that RF coax connector. Just hook it up the same way your DVD is hooked to the TV input jack. Get a 3-wire cable (yellow-red-white)hook it to the same colors on the back of the cable box and hook the other end to an unused input on the back of the TV. Then select that input with your remote and watch TV.
