MY GE Refrigerator-Freezer , model TCX20 motor is humming!!!

MY GE Refrigerator-Freezer , model TCX20 motor is suddenly humming very loudly. It started during the night and has not stopped. When I open the freezer it is even louder. The only way I can get it to stop is to turn the freezer dial to off. What do you suggest? Thanks in advance.

There may be a build up of ice in the freezer compartment and ice touching the fanblade. The unit needs to be defrosted.

Problem seems to be the compressor relay (start switch) take your Model number to nearest appliance parts sore to obtain a replacement.
Still problems, new compressor is most likely needed.

The fan inside the freezer makes a loud humming noise ,but not all the time.

The bushings in the fan motor are gummed up. The fan motor can be removed and cleaned and lubed if you are a fix it person, but changing the fan is much easier

GE Refrigerator GSS201EPWW is making a loud noise

This is the fan motor making noise but the fan motor is probably ok. The main board supplies voltage to the motor and can cause it to make strange noises.

Humming in freezer upper portion behind vent

The fan motor behind the panel is probably going bad. The bearings get loud when it is worn out.

GE top freezer refrigerator: motor has become very loud and refrigerator vibrates. However, when I move the cold control to a lower number, it gets slightly quieter and vibrates slightly less.

Hi,

Please make sure it is level, the compressor is designed to run on level ground. Also check the fans. if the fan is bad or the bearings are shot, it'll vibrate and make a loud humming noise.

Find out where the noise is loudest. if it's under the fridge, it's the compressor. You have to check the coil for the compressor and if it's inside the freezer, it's the fan bearing.

Please leave me comment, if you need further assistance

A side by side GE refrigerator with a loud hum

Hello Kchoffman73,

It sems we developed the same problem.
The hum seems to be coming from the bottom rear of the
fridge.

we have a GE side-by-side model TFX25JR.
The fridge is about 12 years old.

Whats the status of your fridge ? Did it ever stop
humming ? Did you replace or repair it ?
Does it still work ?

Thanks

Ge eterna refrigerator loud humming

suspect you have a problem with the defrost system and hence the noise with the fan. take back panel off inside the freezer and if i'm right, melt ice off with a hairdryer. get back to me to say the results if you want
