You should be able to buy the lamp directly from Epson Spare Parts. Contact them in your country and ask for spare parts dept. In some countries they will only supply these via authorised dealers or repair centres. When you call have the exact model no and serial numbers available as this determines which lamp you actually need.

Well sir if it about repairing every thing is avalible at market but if you have warranty yet not out of time than you must claim it. this would be better than reparing at local work shop ,,,,, thank you...!!!!!!

Testimonial: "Thanks, unfortunately the warrenty has expired so sending the printer back to Epson is not an ideal solution. "

How do i install my new ink cartridges in my printer epsom

Be sure you have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Once you start the ink cartridge replacement procedure, you must complete all the steps in one session.
  1. Make sure the EPSON Stylus CX5400 is turned on and not printing. The LCD screen tells you which ink cartridge is low or empty.
  2. If your EPSON Stylus CX5400 is low on ink, press the left Menu button until you see Change Cartridge, then press the Color Copy button.

If your EPSON Stylus CX5400 is out of ink, press the Color Copy button.

The ink cartridges move to the replacement position.

  4. Lift up the scanner.

  6. Pinch the tabs on the front and back of the cartridge, lift it out of the printer, and dispose of it carefully.

  8. Before you remove the new cartridge from its package, shake it four or five times.

  10. Unwrap the new ink cartridge and lower it into its holder, then press down on the top of the cartridge until it clicks in place.
  11. Caution: Don't touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge; you may inhibit normal operation and printing.

If you need to replace other ink cartridges, repeat steps 4 through 6 before continuing with step 7.
  12. Carefully lower the scanner and press it down until it clicks into place. The EPSON Stylus CX5400 begins charging the ink delivery system.
  13. The On light flashes and the EPSON Stylus CX5400 makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the On light stops flashing and stays on.
Caution: Never turn off the EPSON Stylus CX5400 while the On light is flashing, unless the Stylus CX hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

Error message

I don't know if this will work for you but I had that same error message. All I had to do was lift up the top so I could see the scanner bed and on the left where you see the "locked unlocked" pictures, Move it to the UNLOCKED position (don't ask me why, it makes no sense...) and it worked perfectly again. I spent 4+ hours trying to fix my printer last night, then my boyfriend walked in, moved it to unlocked and it was good as new. It made me pretty mad... but happy I didn't have to buy a new printer! Give it a try =)

Epson Stylus CX5400 Scanner

If the lamp is not working their are two main possibilities. The first is that the lamp has failed and needs to be replaced. Buying a replacement MAY be dearer than buying a new machine - you will have to price the parts locally.

The second option is that the controller board for the scanner has gone. Again this could be an expensive part, but contact a local repair center or parts supplier to price the bits.

If you are successfull in getting the parts (you may buy a faulty machine off ebay with good scanner and bad printer to strip parts from) then this service manual will help you get to the parts you need:

Epson perfect 4990 color scanner

You can try to purchase a new power supply from the USA or similar that has 110v power. Problem is that maybe the power supply let some of the high current through to the main board in the machine and that may have fried too. If you can afford it, try the power supply option first - the scanner may just power up fine.

Scanner

If the unit is in warranty, get Epson out to it. If not check the simple things like making sure the head lock is not on. Look to see if the scanner head starts to move at all when you power up the unit. If the head does not move at all or makes an unusual noise, chances are the unit is complaining that the head is stuck or requires too much effort to move it. Other possibilities include a communication error between scanner and main board of the SPC or SPC and your computer - indicates broken connection or bad USB cable. POssibly a fault with the mainboard of the SPC itself. Error ?Cause *Remedy Scanner error ? Lamp has burnt out. * Replace the scanner lamp. ? Power is turned on without unlocking the scanner. * Unlock the CR. ? The scanner carriage is interfering with any other part. * Remove the obstacle. * Replace the scanner carriage unit.
