Check this link it may help - also if your lamp is trying to light you should see some light and hear a sparking noise from the board (ballast board with spark gap lighting)the lamp is plugged into (internally).

Colour wheel and lamp replaced on DLP tv,--lamp will not illuminate, fans and colour wheel working.

first, the color wheel should not operate if the lamp does not come on; if YOU replaced the wheel yourself double check something.

There are two cables from the color wheel, one is a typical plug and the other is a flat ribbon cable, the ribbon cable has connections only on one side as it plugs in: it is very easy to plug it in backwards in which case lamp will NOT come on at all.

I've a Samsung DLP Model HLR-4266WX that has started to hum and is distorting the picture. I've replaced the cooling fan on the heat sink in the back and that didn't work. Is there another fan in the set...

Color wheel would be cause of hum noise and distorted picture on screen.
Please note that color wheel is not user level repair and requires expertise because it is located in light engine, the most sensitive and expensive part of dlp tv.
If you are good with electronics stuff fix then have service manual copy in hand to start inspecting color wheel.

Ok look my friend..

first i need to know what type of sound is it. like a click or a buzz?

and then here are 3 suggestions.

first clean your TV with some latex globs and a can of compress air try to do it really good try that...

second. check that all the cooling fans are working just fine!

last one. its your color wheel and you need to change it.

I just replaced the lamp on my samsung HL-P5063W (DLP TV)...now the TV will not turn on (no picture...but I do get sound)...when I plug it in, it automatically starts to power on...then it starts making...

Sounds like a bad color wheel. Generally when the color wheel goes bad, when you try and turn the TV on the lamp will ignite for a couple seconds and then turn off. It also makes a rather high pitch squealing noise.

www.Partstore.com should carry a replacement color wheel for your TV

My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek
