My hotpoint wf540 will not start a cycle it very quicly steps to wash light showing but nothing happens door locked light is not illuminated.Just prior to this fault the fuse in the mains plug had blown.I have tried unplugging overnight to no avail.

1st you need to know if power is getting to machine, Next could be door interlock switch faulty the fact the fuse blew indicates possible short circuit/ excess current draw occured also check motor brushes assuming machine fills with water 1st

check pump/filter/outlet hose for blockages. if ok, check pressure switch (disc shaped item at top of machine with 4? wires and a tube) by blowing into it gently - should hear clicks, then blow into tube to pressure chamber - should be clear.

SMELLY WASHING MACHINE

A mouldy smell is often a sign of trapped residual water stagnating somewhere in the machine often just inside the door seal at the low point or in the filter.

Providing there is nothing like a old sock trapped in the pump or filter then there is not much you can do other than to dry the door seal and powder dispenser after use.

WF540 - Won't work and rinse hold and wash enhance lights flash?

Hi ya, just a quick suggestion, have you cleaned the filter on the front of your machine?? My machine did this and it was only when i cleaned the fluff and the 5 pence pieces from this filter it stopped, Hope it helps
