Hello. I have had the same problem with my eMachines Desktop (I have the C6415 Desktop Series). First try unplugging all external hard drives, web cameras, or other external equipment. Basically everything but the Keyboard and Mouse. If this doesn't work then open up your computer and check if the internal hard disk and optical drive are plugged in. If those are plugged in then the only other way to repair this is to restore the OS. Do this by inserting the restore media CD into the optical drive and going into your bios if this is possible.
-Nick (PS good luck)

Acer aspire 500 will not power up. I have tried taking out the battery plus alt f10, f2 and f8, any suggestions?

Does it look as if the computer is working, but it just the display that not working?
Try tapping the keyboard for sounds.

If so it may be the LCD screen is at fault, not the computer.

My screen keeps flashing" diagnosing your PC" why

There is a problem with your windows 8 PC's installation, which has stopped it from booting correctly; hence why it starts in 'startup repair', and tries to diagnose your PC. Hold the F8 key while booting your computer to go into the startup menu for Windows; click Advanced startup options; and select Restore my PC; which will reinstall windows.
This may or may not work for your machine, you may have to hold F2, F10, or the Escape key to go into the UEFI setup and go into startup options from there.

Restore factory settings

Try to get into the BIOS using either F2 , F1 , F8 , or F10 when it starts to load .
Once there , check it's boot sequence to make sure the hard drive was not removed from the load list . If it was , change it to be the first boot device , save , and then restart .

Any error messages apperaing on the screen? Don't forget the monitor cable ...

Acer M1640 Won't boot

Press F8 during boot and see if it can go into Safe Mode. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.

Have a friend that can't boot his computer to windows xp

Before trying to use any of Dell-net's suggestions, we've got to get you into the bios.

It looks generally like this:

You should see a message displayed when you start the computer that says press "Del or F2 or F10" to enter setup.

Once we get here, we can proceed.

Hi, I have a compaq deskpro that is working fine however, the monitor is having trouble. I took the monitor to the shop and it is fine also. Likewise, I placed a monitor from another computer onto the...

The monitor setting in windows maybe incorrect. When booting up before you get the windows logo start hitting F8 and then choose safe mode. If your monitor works in windows there then check the monitors settings. You may have a driver issue or a settings issue when in normal windows mode.
