Screen flashed and stopped displaying widescreen

Usually this is because the display has been changed from 16:9 (widescreen) mode to 4:3 (standard) mode. On the front panel there's a button labelled "4:3 in Wide." Press this button to return to Widescreen mode. If it says "OSD Locked" then you need to hold the "Menu" key for several seconds to unlock the controls, before changing it to widescreen.

If that doesn't correct the problem then you need to adjust your computer's output resolution to a 16:9 ratio like 1920x1080 (1080p) or 1280x720 (720p.)

Need a video card that will allow us to hook up a new wide screen monitor that requires 1080dp. Don't know which video/graphics card will work.

The short answer is no. The belief that widescreen HD monitors require special video cards derives from a combination of two sources. First, most Windows users know that you can change the display resolution by right clicking on the desktop, clicking on settings, and then choosing a resolution from a drop-down menu. What most users do not know is that the choices displayed in that drop down menu are what Windows, the Video Card manufacturer, and the Monitor's manufacturer want you to see. The fact is, most video cards are capable of displaying popular widescreen resolutions such as 1680x1050 dpi and 1920x1080 HD which are 16:10 and 16:9 resolutions.

Hi, I have a black sony KV32wf1u that I am hoping to sell but i am not sure whether this would be classed as a widescreen tv or not. Coulkd you help me pleased

SONY TRINITRON 32" KV-32WF1U, widescreen
SONY TRINITRON 32" KV-32WF1U, widescreen television with remote control, teletext, SCART connections.

That ad says wide screen.
Wide screen usually meant 16 X 9 aspect ratio, which I take it is your screen.
Tes, go for it, call it wide screen.

How do i get my olympus sp800uz to full sceen

If I understand your question right, you want to see your made pictures at full screen without black areas. Well, if you have a widescreen monitor, you can set the camera to take images in widescreen 16:9 format. Thera are menu settings: 16:9 L (4288x2416) and 16:9 S (1920x1080) or crop your pictures with a dedicated graphic tool program.

The picture does not fit the screen. The top and bottom of the picture go beyond the screen

you may need to adjust the aspect ratio of the picture, there is typically an "aspect" button on the remote that will adjust the picture from widescreen, super widescreen 16:9 ratio and sometimes you can zoom in. try that

I use Microsoft XP and I use a 24" Samsung widescreen monitor. Is there any way I can get my programs to fill the screen without stretching and distorting. I have a friend who has a Dell widescreen...

Its probably your screen resolution, you probably want it set to something with a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio so 1280x768 or 1280x960 or if you are like me and like lots of real estate 1920x1200

I have a new flat panel 21" monitor which I love. However, photos which I took of taller objects and some Windows games appear too wide and not tall enough. The same thing can happen on the new TV's when...

It sounds like you have the resolution set wrong. Typical monitors are setup with a 4:3 aspect ratio. With the widescreen monitors, you have to get a resolution that will support the 16:9 I purchased a dell monitor a while back that was the same way, and I just went in and made sure I had it set for the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Right click on the desktop, go to Personalize(Vista) or Options, and then system tab, and slide the bar along the resolution ruler to the correct size. Play with them a little too, to make sure it fits you best. Some of the higher resolutions will show more screen space, but will have smaller text.

Wide screen lcd simple question.

Hi pooing stone,

You may sometimes find that even with a television referred to as “widescreen,” widescreen movies still have letterboxing.

This is likely because the movie you are playing is still in the ratio used at a theater. While most televisions are 4:3 for the more square-type or 16:9 for widescreen, a theater screen is much wider still. Unless the movie has been reformatted specifically to 16:9 for your television, you will either see letterboxing or lose portions of the picture by zooming in.

If a movie is available in several ratios, I suggest thinking of all the options before buying. Although purchasing a movie reformatted to 16:9 will prevent the black bars, purchasing it without any reformatting of the size will prevent you losing part of the picture.

FYI: It is very common with Blu-Ray Discs that widescreen means original size, not 16:9.

Thank you,
Jason,

Display appearing stretched

the original image size was probably recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio...meaning your widescreen is a 16:9 ratio size screen and is stretching it outwards to fill the whole screen. If you want the image to look normal.. ie. not short and fat people.... you need to change the picture size in the settings from widescreen 16:9 to normal 4:3 tv in the settings menu most likely...Also most remotes will/should have a button for that.
