Water under the crisper

After accidentally leaving the fridge door open last week, water keeps accumulating under the crisper. More overnight, then evaporates during the day as the door is opened and closed. Yes, I did clean it up last week and got all the water out. (It was nasty. The water now accumulating is clear.)

It needs a good de frost now as a chunk of ice develped in a line. un plug fridge, let it warm up, use the chance to give it a good cleaning. this should solve the problem.

FRIDGE IS LEAKING LOTS OF WATER UNDER THE CRISPERS

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# GLHT184TJ, is leaking water underneath the crispers. First, make sure the door is closed as well as you are not opening it frequently or for long periods of time. Secondly, make sure all foods and containers are covered. Lastly, make sure that all vegetables have been dried, if you have washed them, before storing them in the crisper drawers. All of the above can cause moisture inside your refrigerator, which can accumulate at the bottom of your refrigerator. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

What is causing water to build up inside the refrigerator section? there is water in the crispers and on the shelves.

A condensation problem inside a fridge, normally means either, you are puting uncoverd food /or food that has a high water content (i.e.salads) into the fridge, which may be warmer than the inside temperature of the fridge, hence condensation(leaving the door open too long has the same effect)only remedy is paper towels in bottom of crisper so that salads dont go soggy.and wipe out fridge as often as needed.

HOW TO FIX A DRAIN LEAK INSIDE REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER PART 2

Water pools under the crisper drawers and looks as if it is draining from the upper freezer down the side of the refrig door, looks like the little hole under the crisper is clogged with rust?? It is a old...

Mine clogs with a soft fungus mat but rust actually sounds better. I run a stiff wire like an unwound hanger into the hole and open it up so the water will drain onto the tray made to collect this water underneath the fridge. Last time I left the wire in place with a long handle and I haven't had water to mess with for many months now. My hole is between the two crisper drawers and when I get into either of them the wire gets a jiggle and I guess that's all it takes to keep the hole clear so the water can drain like it's supposed to.

Otherwise the fungus builds and builds until it sluffs off as a wad and plugs up the works on a regular basis. Too funky for sure.

Teacuptess my GE top freezer Refrigerator has water under Crisper

Could be but more than likely the drain is clogged. Open fridge door look at the top back to see if you can see water running down back of liner.

Water dripping inside fridge

OK, i see a lot of this, and on a fridge that is nearing 10 years old, its pretty normal. Now, we all know that water is leaking into the fridge section from up top because the drain is plugged that is under the evaporator.. now to fix the WHY it happened. most of the time this will happen because the fridge did not go into a DEFROST cycle for a while.. reason being one of two things... either the defrost timer has quit working, or the bimetal thermostat sensor that is clipped on the evaporator has failed. the bi-metal thermostat is usually located in the freezer behind the rear wall and looks like a round "clip on" with 2 wires coming off of it. one pic of one is here.

instructions on how to test this is shown on the link.
(just replaced mine the other day, NO MORE WATER LEAKS! =) )
hope this helps!

Water Is accumulating at the bottom of my fridge....below the vegetable/fruit crispers. The fridge however contiues to keep things cold.

The automatic defroster is supposed to drip down a tube and deposit water into a tray underneath the refrigerator. If that tube becomes clogged with either ice or mold, water is supposed to drip down the back of the refrigerator and go under the crispers, but there is a drain under there that takes it to the tray under the refrigerator. That drain might get clogged with mold or food.

So my suggestion is, try to clear out the drains under the crispers. More difficult, remove the floor of the freezing compartment and clear out the drain there. If it is severely clogged with ice under there, you have a defrosting problem.

In this hot, muggy weather you are likely to get lots of condensation. Good luck.
