You will need to contact Onkyo directly and request the board from the parts department. I was not able to locate a part number for this as we are usually requested to perform component level repairs for these units.

The HDMI board will cost you more than the receiver if you order through Onkyo ($409). Check your warranty; it still might be covered (2 years on this model). But don't be in a hurry for a fix; HDMI boards are going out on thousands of 600, 700 and now 800 series Onkyos, and they are loathe to fix them according to their own authorized service center.

OK. I sure don't want to pay $409 if the replacement is likely to as bad as the original. It sounds like Onkyo's supplier is either putting out poorly soldered boards or using low quality components. BUT... rather than purchase a new AV receiver from another manufacturer (and since this one is a total loss) can I repair the board myself by changing the capacitors or other components?

Cant get new HDMI board for Onkyo TX-SR604

It's usually the hdmi switching IC that goes bad on these. Not something you can really replace without the right equipment and knowledge.

Unable to connect a blu ray dvd player to onkyo tx-sr605 via hdmi

Not sure what unable to connect means..but I will assume you have the correct cable.

First make sure you have plugged the from the HDMI cable from the DVD play into the IN 1 HDMI port on the back of your Onkyo

On the Receiver
Enter the Setup mode
Select INPUT OUTPUT ASSIGN
Next make sure the HDMI monitor out is set to YES on the Receiver
Monitor out
HDMI Monitor - YES

Next you need to assign the HDMI INPUT to DVD
Select INPUT OUTPUT ASSIGN
HDMI INPUT
DVD - IN1
CBL/SAT - IN2

This may be your issue.

Next step would be to verify your television input settings.

Nice receiver!

Best of luck!

I am trying to get the amp working through my tv using HDMI leads. I have no HDMI out on my tv so I used the lead from HDMI 1 on my tv to HDMI out on the amp. The set up menu appears on my tv but no...

Contrary to the instructions included with most AVR's...

You don't need to take video out from the TV to the receiver. Once it gets to the TV it has found its ultimate destination.

And you don't NEEDS to GET audio FROM a TV either, unless it tunes stations from its own antenna.

Otherwise the SAT/Cable box can provide analog audio to the TV for watching lo-fi programming like news with the Onkyo OFF; and you can run digital multichannel directly to the Onkyo for its special treatment.

Running either hi-end audio or high-end video to a device that doesn't absolutely need it wastes expensive cabling and introduces a couple more connections to worry about.

The HDMI is not outputting to my display. I have 3 inputs and none of them work. However they did work for about 2 weeks with no problem. I can take the input directly to the display and they work...

Measure all hdmi inputs and output HPD Voltage by a needle probe.
Steps:
(1)unplug the amp.
(2)open the cover.
(3)connect a blu ray player to hdmi input & a mon to output, otherwise no 5V.
(4)negative probe connected to the large heat sink with large power transistors mounted by a crocodile clip.
(5)postive probe to right hand side last pin called hot plug detect, HPD.
(6)If it has 5V, hdmi board is OK. Check HDMI cables(7)If no 5V, check power to this board. Go to you tube:How to fix an Onkyo receiver - TX-SR606 . All large capacitors next to SMPS IC are replaced.
(8) If not OK, replace Q 8595-Q8597.
(9)If not OK, replace Q8501,sil9135.(Onkyo won't help you to replace this HDMI decoding Chip. A HDMI board replacement instead, the company policy.)

Sound won't play through Onkyo TX-SR605 when using HDMI

The chances are that you have selected an incorrect sound setting or not switched it on, for the HDMI you are using. With Onkyo receivers each connection will have it own settings for video and sound. You just need to look in the manual as to how to select the settings.
