Can NavMan 520 charge via USB?

install the nav desk software to you p.c and connect the navman to the pc via the usb cable.

You will be prompted that a map upgrade is available through the NavDesk software. Once the unit has synchronized with the NavDesk software you will be informed that a later map is available. Once you select the map data, it will begin to download to your computer.

1. Connect Navman GPS to PC via mini-USB cable.

2. Go to 'Start'

3. Go to 'My Computer'

4. Open the Navman Unit

5. Open the 'Navman' folder

6. Open the 'Database' folder

7. Delete the following file only - 'dababase.db'

8. Close the folders

9. Disconnect the mini-USB cable then restart the Navman GPS by sliding the switch to 'Restart' then back to 'On' after 10 seconds.

The database.db file will be generated automatically once the folder is closed.

If it's not the original Navman usb loader then there's a easy solution to this : With a sharp knife carefully open the usb cable : you'll see four tiny cable's with different colours . You;ll have to cut two of those four cables ; Leave the black and red cable intact.
Use some tape to fix the cut in the usb cable. Now you can use your car charger and your navman won't go into usb mode.

No solution but exactly the same model and exactly the same problem. When I put the car charger on the unit, it goes off and then comes back on and ust shows a computer as though the only option it can handle via usb is a computer connection. Interestingly, it still charges, but just becomes useless as a satnav as there are no maps, directions or any scree functionality at all.

I had this problem when I completely deleted the Backup folder from \My Flash Disk.

Restoring the backup folder allowed the 520 to operate properly again.

It is possible that you have a corrupted APPStartupSec.exe application. Without this file working it appears that the NAVMAN waits in USB mode for ever!

check the battery switch on the back. you will need a pen. Mine does the same thing. I believe this switch has to be set to ON for it to work. At least mine wont turn on unless the switch is turned on.

You can unlock the iCN520 and install other GPS software on it. The iCN520 can run virtually all the major GPS software available today; from Tomtom to Miomap and beyond.

The CD is not available for download from Navman it seems, but you can get it at thepiratebay.com. Just search for 'navman icn' and you'll find what you need, I just did. Better learn how to download torrents though! :)

i was in car,using navmanf10, went blank and a comput screen connect to unit appeared, cannot do anything with it
