Scanning... Is ther a way to scan several pages at one time and have them automatically scan to the same document - just in multiple pages? Right now, my document feeder will only scan one page at a time and I have to start from scratch to do the next page - when I would like to have one document with multiple pages.

When I load the doc feeder and initiate the scan feature, it does not start the scan process and I'm not sure why

What do you mean scan? Is it from the printer to the computer? Or just plain copy? When you want to scan to the computer, you need a software that can scan multiple pages. HP's document feeder can copy and fax multiple pages, so if the software supports multiple pages scanning, then I'm sure it can.

What is adf

Hello!
An automatic document feeder or ADF is a feature which takes several pages and feeds the paper one page at a time into a scanner or copier, allowing the user to scan, and thereby copy, print, or fax, multiple-page documents without having to manually replace each page.

How do i scan multiple pages and sav it to my documents. It seems like i am only able to scan and save one page at a time

Hi

If you have a Top feeder on the scanner, you can scan mutiple pages. Change the setting of the scanned file to pdf file (not JPEG) by going to the scanner icon and change the type of file you want to scan. Scan it as PDF FILE and then it will scan multiple pages. Regards

I was wondering how to scan more than one page at a time with the x7170. also is there any way to save the scanned document as a microsoft document?

The Lexmark X7170 printer can only scan one page at a time. However, it has the capability of scanning multiple pages using either the scanner glass or through the automatic document feeder. Refer to the Lexmark X7100 Series User's Guide for more information.
For your second question, Yes, you have an option to save your scanned file to a Microsoft document as long as the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The scan software is only available on the installation disc (not available as part of the downloadable driver on the Lexmark website).

HP C6180 will NOT scan multiple pages into one file

If you want to scan multiple pages, go to HP Scan Pro, click on the SCAN menu, and then make sure that "Documents" is checked under "New Scan." This will allow you to scan multiple pages and it will scan black n white or color...whatever you place on the glass.

Scanning several pages and saving as one document

Try this....
Scan your multiple pages to an image file, like .jpg, I know it's tedious, name them (optional) by page number, put them into an empty folder.

When you're done with all the scanning, open the folder, select all of them, open with: Preview.

Now, you should see one page, with a side bar containing all of the pages. (If they're not in order, you can drag and drop within the sidebar to reorder.) Select all of those (Or Command A)

Command P (Or Print)
In this window, you should see page one, and below that, make sure it says "Page 1 of XX"...this way you know you got 'em all, and it's your final opportunity to page through them all by clicking on the little arrows to make sure they're in the right order.

Click the PDF button
Save as PDF...

See if that helps

Scanning several pages and saving as one document

Single scan printers can be difficult in this manner.\

Consider using the OCR (optical character recognition) software that came with your scanner.

Basically the part of the software that asks you what you are scanning (picture, document, newspaper) and make sure to select document. This will enable the character recognition which will convert the scanned picture into a document that you can configure to go into Microsoft Word or Notepad or whatever. If you have multiple pages, it MIGHT give you the option to scan more than one page at a sitting. then again, it may not. In which case you might be kicking yourself for not purchasing the scanner with the auto feed attachment! Once you have made your scanned document in your word processor - READ THROUGH IT! may have converted characters incorrectly - like an "S" may be now a "$" it happens - and it will happen. When done, attach complete document to email and BOOM done.

Either this or use a fax machine :)

hope i helped!
