Open your My Computer and at the bottom part of the windows you will find a USB Video Device icon. Double click on it and it will activate your built-in camera.
Now use a video chatting program like skype or Yahoo Messenger with your webcam.
Make sure cam driver is in install in your laptop.
Open my computer then if your driver is installed you can find your camera in my computer or in control panel ->scanner and camera wizard.
Open it then check .
If it is not there then you have to install cam driver from disk or download driver from below link.
Select your model and then select your operating system then downoad driver.

Uninstalling Webcam drivers in vista:
1. Click Start.
2. Type Device Manager in the Start Search box
3. Click the Device Manager.
4. Click the "+" sign next to Imaging devices.
5. Click the first device listed under Imaging devices .
6. Click Remove to remove the HP webcam 1000 driver.
7. Click OK for confirmation.
8. Close the System Properties box.
9. Restart the computer by clicking Start, Shut down, Restart, and then OK
Note : Uninstall all the webcam drivers that you come across.

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
I recommend you reset the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service settings by performing the below steps:
1. Click Start
2. Type Run in the start search box and select it
3. Type "services.msc" and click on Ok
4. In the list, select the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)"
5. Double click the "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" service, and under the startup type select Automatic.
6. Click on "Start" button if it is stopped under Service status
7. Click the Recovery tab.
8. Set all the First failure option to Restart the sevice.
9. Select the same for Second failure and Subsequent failures.
10. Click Apply and click OK.

To work with the built-in Webcam of your notebook, you have to use either QuickPlay or Muvee Autoproducer software installed in the notebook or use Yahoo, MSN or AIM messenger and check the functioning of Web Cam.
To use QuickPlay, perform the below steps :
* Click on the Vista button (formerly called the Start Button, and also now referenced as the Pearl button)
* Click on All Programs
* Click on QuickPlay
* Within the QuickPlay application, click the Video icon (Icon resembles, camera, music, and film)
* Double click on "HP Webcam" in the Source column
The screen will now display the webcam input. From this screen, the customer can click record at the top; recorded files will be added to the play list. To playback video, the customer should double click on a file from the Play list column.
To use Muvee Autoproducer software perform the below steps :
Open Muvee Auto Producer >> Click Tools >> Get Video from Camcorder.
If issue persists, then stop and temporarily disable Windows Media Center Receiver Service (if found)
1. Open the Services item in Control Panel. To do this, click Start, type services in the Start Search box, and then click Services in the
Programs list.
2. Click Windows Media Center Receiver Service.
3. On the Action menu, click Properties.
4. Click the General tab.
5. In the Startup type field, click Disabled, and then click OK.
6. Restart the computer.
Uninstall Vista security update KB915597 (if found in your notebook)
1. Open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features.
2. Select Vista security update KB915597, and then click Uninstall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
