Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Hi, I have a Maytag Mdb8959sas dishwasher that was leaking during a normal wash cycle. I pulled the dishwasher out from under the counter and saw that it appears to be leaking directly below the point...

I will assume that you have cleaned gasket around door and at washer. Quite often a build up of scale at lower gasket surfaces is all that is causing leak.

Water did not drain from the bottom

Hello Cheryl, There are a couple of possibilities. When the dishwasher drains the dirty water it is a time based function. This leads me to believe it is a blockage or partial blockage in the drain hose.
Here is an example. (If your dishwasher drains into your garbage disposal) washing dishes you put scraps into the disposal and forget to turn it on after you are done. The disposal is filled with scraps this restricts the flow of dirty waterfrom the dishwasher. If the flow is restricted less water is being drained per second from the dishwasher. This is why the dishes still looked clean and there was still water in the bottom of the dishwasher.
(if your dishwasher drains into a drain pipe) there is blockage or partial blockagein the dishwasher drain hose. if the sink drains slowly the blockage is in the main line
Hope this helps

I have a Maytag dishwasher Model PDB3600A. the dishes are left with a strong soap residue after a full cycle of wash. I use a powder detergent and Jet Dry. What should I check to solve the problem?

When you open up the dishwasher is there still water in the bottom of the dishwasher????? The screen around the bottom could be dirty. Or the drain line could be restricted, if it drains back to the Garbage disposal make sure it is draining. Are you using hot water??? Check to see if the Arms are turning and the ports are not plugged with debrie.... If the drains are OK and the screen is clean...... I put in about a half gallon of white Vinegar in the wash cycle after it filled with water and used no soap and rewashed the dishes. I ran the Hot water faucet at the Kitchen sink till the water was good and Hot and then on the dishwasher used the heat water feature. It cleaned up the dishes and the dishwasher. I did this on a Whirlpool dishwasher but it should work for any make of dishwasher. Hope this helps... I had to do this several time to get all the dishes back clean

Food particles are on dishes after washing

Try adding bicarb of soda/baking soda and vinegar in the detergent dispenser. Bicarb fizzes off hardened particles and vinegar strips off grease and aids rinsing.
