The installation keeps getting interupted because something is not configured correctly. I have tried install from hard drive and same thing happens

Have you Run Norton AV or another quality Program? This exact problem happened to my Laptop 2 years ago and I was forced to Re-format my Hard Drive and reinstall everything. The Great thing about this was.. It ran much faster. Just back up your Documents BEFORE you start the process.

U can do one thing , convert your HDD using ide to usb or sata to usb converter and connect ur HDD via usb and check what happens....

What kind of internet connection are you using? THe main installer is about 204 Mb. This is a large file to d/l if you have poor internet connection. You can try installing a download manager (search for Re-Get or similar on Google). This may help you. Also make sure you have plenty of hard drive storage space to download it and to install it too. Hope this helps...

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

Try this. Please make sure that when you installed your CMOS battery, that you did it correctly.

Now, if all was correct then go into the BIOS and configure your hard drive because it sounds like your hard disk isn't configured.

Most BIOS's will auto recognize the hard drive but you have to go into the BIOS and tell it to search for it and then save it by pressing F10 and save before you exit out of your BIOS.

If all else fails, replace your hard disk.

have you tried pressing F8 when it starts booting (keep pressing it before dell bios screen fully loads)

you should get a black screen with options,

scroll up to with arrow keys>> "last known good configeration"

also have you installed any programs or hardware befor this happened?

If you have a spare computer or can get to someone that can help, remove your hard drive and install it as a "data" drive in another system. The other system can then remove the partial installation and start over. A last resort would be to reformat the drive. It might be possible to reformat it with a DOS (or Windows 95/98) boot floppy. Be very careful as DOS does not always work well with newer hard drives.

Your DVD should be bootable -- that is, restart and it should boot off DVD. If in fact you have an installable copy of Vista, and you have a working DVD drive.

If those two answers are correct, restart your computer and immediately figure out how to get into the BIOS -- Normally delete, F1, F2 or F10. Hit 'em all real quick and keep trying, looking also for something like "To enter into system configuration, hit ..."

There should be an entry for boot preference. Just make sure CD/DVD/removable media/ATAPI drives are listed before your hard drive.

The drive will need to be extracted. The enclosure and/or drive has failed and is causing your computer to fail. Remove the drive carefully from the enclosure and test it in a good, known working stable enclosure...

If you're getting this message during the POST and there are IDE drives then chances are you haven't configured the drives correctly.To correctly configure two drives on an IDE channel you need to either: - have one drive set as Master (using jumpers on the back of the drive) and the other as Slave OR - have both set as Cable Select (CS) with the appropriate cable.
