John Deere will replace the cap for free; they acknowledge the vendor who supplied Briggs & Stratton gas caps provided faulty caps. Call 1-888-228-3068 then 1 (English), 2, 1 and a technician will ask you for model number and Serial Number (which they need to replace the cap). Don't drill a hole in your cap: debris will find a way into the gas tank and end up possibly fouling the engine. Bob from NJ
I have the John Deere 3300 PSI washer. The unit has the John Deere name but was assembled by Briggs and Stratton and has a Briggs and Stratton engine. I also experienced the engine shut off after the unit ran several minutes. I also found the gas cap was not letting the gas tank vent. I loosened the cap and the engine runs fine.
I don't like leaving the gas cap loose. I am wondering if it might be practical to drill a small vent hole (1/8 inch) in the center of the cap?
I have 3300 john deere. Mine started sputtering then cut off several time. Tryed everything. Found out that cap was not letting it vent air loosened cap works great as long as cap is loose.
Screen to water input may be clogged....no water will make it overheat
