Samsung hlr5667w that won't turn on. Good lamp and ballast

I have acquired a Samsung hlr5667w that won't turn on. Lamp and ballast are both good. When the tv tries to turn on the lamp never lights which tells me the ballast. But the ballast was tested in another tv and worked fine. What controls the ballast on the power board that might have broken?
I also have a hlp5063w that's doing the same thing and both the Ballast and Lamp on it have been checked. The only thing different on the 50in is it sounds too quiet when I try and turn it on. Fans work, but the lamp doesn't light.

Well I ended up breaking the color wheel on accident as it just wouldn't seem to fit back in it's spot. Forunately I put everything back together and everything is good, just no color. The wheel had scrathes on it like it might have been jammed in there previously.

I shorted the switch, but that wasn't the problem. I also found no swollen capacitors. From my experience with Mitsubishi Rear Projection Tv's capacitors don't have to be swollen to be faulty. Isn't there like an ESR meter that will help determine if a capacitor is good or not? Anyway, when it turns on I only hear 2 fans running. After I unplugged both of those it was pretty much silent. This color wheel is not jammed and I took it out and put it back in with ease. The previous owner said he replaced the color wheel and the lamp and then gave up. I also know that the ballast is good. What powers the color wheel? Since it's only connected to that silver box in front of it, I guess that's where it comes from. But in the end the tv tries 3 times to turn on followed by the 3 blinking lights on the front.

I've got a friend who has the same model hlp5063w, so I can try the Power Supply from his a see if the fixes the problem. If not the power supply, what would you guess next?

Any light blink on the front. Whats the voltage to the ballast from the power supply. Common problem on these sets are bad lamp door switch. Try shorting the switch. Color wheel also is problematic but usually will be noisy and cause shut down. Check power board for swollen capacitors. Hope this helps

Check the flex cable from the color wheel to make sure it is plugged in correctly. The contacts are on one side of the flex cable. I plugged on in backwards once and it would not turn on. If thats ok replaced the power supply. About the capacitor on the ballast. Samsung had a problem with lamp failure and indicated that if the large cap on the ballast was swollen the replaced ballast and power supply. If it's not swollen not to worry. Check flex cable to color wheel . if won't fire and lamp and ballast are ok replace power supply.Be sure all wires are plugged in every where.

I have a Samsung hlr5667w when I turn it on the lamp lights but the screen is black with a dim flickering light behind it, there is no audio. The lamp will stay on for a couple of minutes then the set...

If you heard recently a high pitched sound or fan like sound it may be the color wheel--if it fails the set will detect that and shut set off.

If lamp comes on even for a few seconds it likely is good--ballast which drives lamp is possible but rare.

I have a Samsung HLR5656 model and the picture is now very dark even DVD are dark. Still watchable but it looks like everything is shot at night time.

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is BP9600826A You can find it here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/Samsung-BP96-00826A-Lamp-Enclosure-p/samsung-bp96-00826a-lamp-enc.htm?Click=48173. Have a blessed one!

3 lights on front flashing indicates lamp quit. Could be lamp or ballast.

Samsung DLP HL-R5667W lamp won't fire. Changed lamp & ballast and still won't work. Fans are working fine, color wheel good. Lamp door switch good. When I power on, I hear ballast buzz like it's trying...

Was the replacement lamp the same part number as the original as there are different arc gaps for different lamps and the wrong arc gap will cause the lamp not to light. Since the ballast is powering up the lamp should light if the baalast is matched to the correct arc gap of the lamp being used.

It turns on works for 15 seconds then turns off and the lights flash

Common problems for this model
1. If you have replaced the lamp check to see if door switch is pressed downward by lever on the lamp door.
2. Try new lamp. examine large cap on ballast if it is swollen or domed on top replace ballast, power board amd lamp together.
3. If voltage to ballast is below 350volts replace power board.
4. Repalce color wheel.

Tv turns on and off intermittently

Be sure the tab on the lamp door pushes the switch downward. Has the lamp been changed. Bad lamp commonly causes this set to shut down. Also is voltage to ballast below 350 v replace power board. I have nevr heard of a computer board in this set.
