How interchangeable are replacement chain bars for older Husqvarna chainsaws? I've never replaced one before and was considering buying one from Sherril on-line which is on sale, a 14 inch Husqvarna Intenz chain bar. Will this likely work on a Husky 36 chainsaw?

Your question can't be answered as aked.
If your saw requires an Intenz 14" Bar it's Oregon pns 140SDET041 or 140GPET041. Part number 140SDEA041 if not Intenz.
Plug in your requirements here:

Once you get a part number it can easily be converted to other manufacturers numbers. HTH

NEED TO REPLACE GAS LINE

hi everyone

i too was unfortunate enough to buy a husqvarna chainsaw. in my opinion the only solution to fixing these pieces of rubbish is a litre of fuel and a match and post it on utube. this is the only way you will get satisfaction.

Assuming that pitch and guage are the same , can a stihl chain and a husqarna be interchanged. Thank you for your input. Steve

The only difference left is in quality and the number of cutters. Stihl has a prestretched chain and better tempered metal.
Good luck!

Bar & Chain combo interchange

A longer bar will allow you to cut larger trees easier but if you don't need to cut larger diameter trees and just want to cut faster you can get a more aggressive chain but use caution as you should be VERY experienced as the chain has the ability to pull you right into the work if you are not careful! Using a very aggressive chain should only be done by professionals with full safety gear.

Chain for 24

Oregon Bar & Chain Selector

Select "Husqvarna; 455; 24"; All; All; All" and make your choice. A couple of things to consider, it only returns 3/8 pitch chain, 0.325 is also available. I ordered a 24" bar for my 359, a Carlton that only takes 81 drive links (82 is normal). I saved $20 by ordering that bar, I just have to be careful when ordering chain. I prefer Stihl chain to Oregon. My Husky is maintained by Stihl mechanics and gets Stihl 2-cycle oil; please do not tell her, she may never run for me again. LOL

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Good Luck. HTH

The chain locked up with the engine running. noticed no oil in the oil chamber. what needs to be done?

The bar and chain got very hot. Try this:
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out. Pay attention to the screen or filter on the free end (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up.
  2. PUT ON GLOVES; completely remove the chain from the bar. Hold the bar horizontal and install the chain in the upper bar groove, (mark one of links) rotate the chain one complete revolution. If it rotates freely without catching or riding up in the groove you can reassemble your saw try it.
If my saw I would seriously consider replacing the bar and chain but I cannot see what damage has been done. HTH
