What is the model of the thermostat you are attempting to connect? And what are you attempting to connect it to?

If you haven't fixed it yet, the best way is that the two black wire will break your feed beween the black of the line in and the load and the same for the red.
It should look like this:
line side black to thermostat and out of thermostat on the black to the black of the heater
line side red to thermostat and out of thermostat on the red to the red of the heater.
Each line in are 120 volts so you should get 240volts at the thermostat and when the demand ask for it you should get 240 volts at the heater.

Hi, I believe you are controlling only one Hydronic Baseboard heater, even though you have 240 volts at the wall for a high line voltage t-stat. One wire from the wall wht. or blk., doesn't matter which as they are both the same voltage, 120 ea. and terminate one pair of the black wires to one hot, and one pair of red wire to the other hot. Cap of the othr 4 wires and see if this will control the heater. If nothing works, terminate all 4 black to one hot and the same with red, all to the other hot. One of these combinations will control it. Unless you have a diagram showing other wise on the stat wires, it has to wire this way, one of the 2 options. Best of Luck and safety first.Sincerely, Shastalaker7
PS, you would think on a high votage stat for 240 control, tou would have only 2 hot from the stat and most do. Also, terminate the grounds if you will.

Hi, this picture resembles the harness(connecting plug) looking in from the back of the harness. The red wire goes into the A+ point. the black wire goes into the Gnd point. The yellow wire goes into the B+ point. if you not sure how to read this picture please ask the help of an installer. Cheers.

I have 2-240V (4.2V) basebaord heaters, Need Wiring Diagram

you get 120V from any phase (black OR red) to neutral
you get 240V from phase to phase (between black and red) and in this scenario you don't need the white wire.
So for you, connect the black to 1 pole of the breaker and the red to the other pole, connect the green wire to the ground strip and you are done.
A white wire is NEVER connected to a circuit breaker anyway, it is a grounded wire, it would be like connecting a green wire to a black wire, bad idea.
the National electrical code specifies red and black wire color for 240VAC circuits.
As Ask Hank mentionned, nothing wrong with 10/3 wire.

Wiring for baseboard heater

I hope you are using a Line Voltage Thermostat!! First, make sure that the power feeding the thermostat is coming from a two pole breaker of the correct amperage (20 amp). If you are using 12-2 wire with ground then please mark the white wire with black tape at each end to identify it as a HOT power source and not a Neutral wire (which is a grounded lead). Do the same for the 12-2 wires feeding the baseboard heater from the Line Voltage Thermostat. The wires from the thermostat (One Black & one White w/black tape) will be wired to each one of the two wires (one Black & one Red or two Black wires) at the baseboard heater. It doesn't matter which wire from the thermostat is wired to which wire at the heater, just as long as there is one wire to one and one wire to the other.(eg. Black from stat to Black at heater/White w/blk. tape from stat to Red at heater OR Black from stat to Black at heater/White w/blk. tape from stat to OTHER Black at heater). I have seen baseboard heaters with two black wires or one black and one red wire. Hope this helps, but if you are confused then please have an experienced tech. do it for you.

However, brand name manufacturers often build proprietary power supplies or make up their own color coding, so I wouldn't throw out a power supply that supplies 5V where you think it should supply 3.3V. It's more likely a proprietary design than a failure.

Cadet wall mount and thermostat

your wiring is all wrong. for a 240 heater a 20/20 tandem breaker will not work with a 240 heater. you need a 20 amp two pole breaker. the two wires at the heater need to be connected to the line. you probably have two black wires at the heater. one connects to the white romex which should be taped black, and the other romex black connects to the other black wire. at the panel one white goes to one side of the breaker and the black to the other. the bare ground goes to the neutral bar.
