) Make sure you have it plugged in correctly (pg 17 of the manual - link below to manual)
2) Make sure the volume control for your operating system is not on
mute (Double click on the little icon of a speaker by your clock or go
to Accessories/Entertainment folder in your start menu for volume
control).
3) Make sure your computer has a sound card and it is working (Start
Menu, My Computer, View System Info (top, left), Hardware tab, Device
Manager, Sound/Video/Game controlers and click the + sign next to it to
see the list of installed devices. Right click on the name and go to
properties to see if it is working correctly.)
