Samsung FP-T5084 No picture

My neighbor gave me a Samsung FP-T5084 50'' Plasma TV that no longer works. He had a sevice tech check the power supply and replace the keyboard, but it still does not show a picture. Power lights indicate TV is getting power. Service tech said Y-board, Is this something that can be easily replaced myself? Is it worth the cost? The TV is 1 yr old.

would you recommend trying the y - board replacement myself? and how do I know which one it is?

Samsung fp-t5084 fuse fix is the replacement fuse slow burn or fast burn?

I'm certain it uses a T12amp slow blow type. I have the exact same model, you can replace the fuse. The TV will for a while, but that fuse will blow again. You will need to replace the power supply board for a more permanent fix.

Fp-t5084 Samsung 50" Plasma does

Hi, Here are some basic steps that will help you fixing the problem. I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LEDlight and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (nocontinuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse-sometimes the fuse fail because of the powersurge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case Iwould advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts in the power supply, you may visit thelinkhttp://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info. If no reaction andstill the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply. 4.If you see that the fuse is intact , don't attempt to touch anythingbecause there some fatalcomponentsstored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only. I wouldadvice you to look for aprofessional to troubleshootthe power supply. If you want to repair it yourself make sure that you havenecessary tools and testinstrument. First check bad solder joints(re-solder allcold solder), leakyelectrolytic capacitor(sometimes it has bulged at the top but not all, you betterhave a capacitor checker), open/shorted regulator transistor/IC(mounted in heatsink), open fusible resistor (caused by shorted regulatorTransistor/IC), shorted zenerdiode. You may also replace the power supply board, this is more convenient if you are going to DIY because no soldering required. Obtain the board from your local Samsung service centers.
Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the backpanel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of yourunit will fix it for free or a little charge only. Hope I helped you. Have a nice day! Thanks for using fixya.

My samsun fp-t5084 is making a loud whining noise

its either a fan going out or power transformer. take the panel off and turn on the unit while being careful not to touch anything at all while power is to the device. plug it in and listen so you can identify the component. If its a transformer (it would more than likely be square and wrapped in a thick polymer sheeting.) it will be fine, possible for good. If its the fan making noise, you will typically have 9-12mths from the time you first here the sound before the perfomance is affected.

SO, to make a long story short, a hummming sound is typically the sound of electrical variations in a component, whining is normally a rubbing action within metal and plastic components.

(plastic on plastic makes a squeek, metal on metal a higher pitched squeek)

My Samsung FPT5084 50 Inch Plasma TV....keeps turning itself on and off. Does a solution exist to my problem. I am out of warranty,

Below is the service manual link from epox. ftp://ftp.epox.com/downloads/Manual/mu-8KDA3J&+11.pdf

This is usually a switchmode power supply problem, and it's shutting down, for safety reasons, so as to avoid a fire and explosion or both. Realistically you need to get a "Quote" from an authorised service agent, for repair.

No power to Samsung FP-T5084

I had the same problem twice with my Samsung FPT 5084 and it was the 12 AMP fuse on the power board both times. The bad part is you have to remove the whole back plate to get to it but once off it sits on the power board (dead center) towards the lower left hand side of it. Replace the top fuse or you can replace both. They're just regular ceramic sealed 12 AMP fuses that cost about 50 cents each.
