I need to ask about my problem. I just bought a D-Link DES-1008D and a D-Link DIR-300 Wireless-G Router my problem is after I attach 7 computers on my switch hub. I only have limited local network connection my internet is not connecting to my network hub. router is working fine. but my network hub can't get connection from internet.
Make sure you're using a crossover ethernet cable to connect the router to the switch. Also make sure that the router has it's DHCP server up and running.
my routers dhcp server is up. the cable connected from my router works fine when connected to my laptop (can access internet with ease). my problem is this, 4 pc connected via my switch has an unknown network problem. already checked my cables for error with my routers cable tester and it's good. I'm thinking switch problem? maybe ports have physical errors / factory defect?
Make sure you're using a crossover ethernet cable to connect the router to the switch. Make sure you're using a crossover ethernet cable to connect the router to the switch. Also make sure that the router has it's DHCP server up and running.

The DES 1008D is an unmanaged switch. therefore there is nothing to set up. Just plug it in and connect to your computer via a cat 5 cable. Here are the manuals Link DES 1008D
Yes, this product is compatible with Windows 7.
To note, if you are upgrading to Windows 7 from either Windows Vista or Windows XP check before installing that your Wired/Wireless equipment on your computer will have compatible drivers for Windows 7.
Welcome to FixYa! In regards to your problem there are possible options you could follow.
1. Check first if your computer is detecting the router. Go to your Network Connections and see if its detecting a connection with the D-Link router that you have.
2. I suggest go to this site that has a manual for setting up a D-Link DIR-300 Wireless Router.Check if you missed any of the process.
Steps: Go to Google.com then type "cant get a internet Problem with the D-Link DIR-300 Wireless Router" and then look for DIR 300 Wireless Router Manual. There you will find all that you need in setting up your router. Hope this helps! Thank you for using FixYa!
D-Link DES-1008D 8-Port Ethernet switch is unmanaged switch which can only support 10/100 MBPS.The DES-1008D is a passive switch which means there is no way to configure the ip address and no need to.
Is the modem a DSL or cable model?
Does the router have one ethernet port and a WAN port?
Normally the broadband modem is connected to the WAN port on the router and the ethernet port on the router is then connected to the hub/switch and the computers are then connected to the hub/switch.
The modem gets an unique IP address from your Internet Service Provider and then the router then issues Class "C" IP addresses to each computer that is connected to the switch/hub.
There really isn't much to setting up an ethernet switch hub. Plug a network cable into your router LAN connection and into port 1 or uplink port of your switch. All other computers will attach to ports 2 to 8. If you have an Uplink port and port 1, they usually can only be used singlely. That is to say use either the Uplink or port 1 Using both disables the switch hub.
connect your wireless router with swithch with straight cabvle of lan. bt first connect your wifi router with any computerr so u can configure it as dhcp enabled.
