Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Sounds like a blockage in the exhaust line and a pressure safety switch is shutting it down. If its an 80% efficient furnace check the exhaust line and the roof vent cover for damage or blockage. If there's ice on the roof, take all necessary safety precautions!!!! If its a 90% efficient furnace, make sure that all the condensate lines are free of any blockage. Remove power to the furnace and remove and clean these lines. Also check the condensate drain lines to make sure that there is no blockage in the line. The machine is just flashing E24 on the front. What does this mean?

E24 = draining failure

If the appliance has stopped full of water then you have to check the drain hose for blockages, especially where it connects to the drain. Check the pump for a blockage, bail out the water manually and remove the filters. You should find a cover held by a screw covering the pump impeller. Take out the screw, take off the cover and remove anything jamming the pump. Refit the cover and try the appliance again.

Check the drain spiggot inder the sink where the drain hose connects to the sink. Remove the hose and make sure there is no blockage. There also may be a blockage in the dishwasher pump. check inside the sump or remove the drain pump to clear any foreign item

Drain is clogged

I had a flashing red Intake/Drain light. After calling Miele tech support, he confirmed that the drain was plugged so I took all drain hoses apart and finally discovered that the problem was a plugged air gap. I replaced it and the problem was solved.

Our Miele G984SC does not start and the drain/intake light has been on since we cannot start it

Is machine full of water? If yes, you probably have a drain problem. Check drain pump impellor is turning freely (instructions for this available from Miele website-go to Customer Support link, and download user guide for your model-it contains instructions for removing filers and accessing drain pump). If this is OK, check for kinks in drain hose, and check for blockage where drainhose connects to spigot on waste pipe (usually under your sink). If machine is draining OK and light still flashing, you may have problem with inlet valve/hose assembly-recommend calling service agent to repair.

Intake/drain light is flashing

When this happens with my dishwasher it usually means that the drain is clogged with food/debris.  To fix 1) remove bottom dish rack from machine 2) using a small cup, scoop out as much water as possible 3) remove inlet drain cover and unsnap the plastic insert and remove 4) rinse the plastic part and reinstall 5) start machine 6) if light still flashes, repeat steps 3 4 and 5 and restart

Indesit dishwasher DV62

You have a blockage in your drain pump. Remove all filters and scoop out as much water as you can from the unit. Check in the bottom for any objects stuck there. Some models have a cover on the bottom inside the unit, which once removed, will expose the drain pump impeller. If yours does, remove the cover(usually 1 screw only) and free the drain pump impeller. NB: DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREWS WHICH HOLD THE BASE TUB IN PLACE! These are the screws on the edge of the white plastic "bowl" inside the unit. The drain pump cover will be INSIDE this bowl and will be quite small, no more than 5cm dia.... If this does not work, you will have to remove the drain pump from the bottom or front of the unit to get the blockage out. Oshie
