Without knowing your model, most times you do not need a repair man
or a plumber, your diagnosis leads me to believe that you may have a clogged drain or sump
if you open up the bottom motor area, you should be able to access the sump area and clear the drain area.....
if your interested, you can look up the break down for your model on
www.appliancepartspros.com
just type in your model number look in the motror pump section

hope this help
but you can do it your self,,, its probably just needs to be clean

I accidently put dishwashing liquid soap in the dispenser. Now the water from the bottom of the dishwasher will not fully drain. I checked the filters, those are clean. Please help and Thank you.

I did the same thing recently. I've been trying to get it fixed, but it doesn't seem to drain completely. Were you able to get yours fixed with the last answer that was posted? http://www.benfranklinplumbingmorganton.com/sewer-and-drain-cleaning-hickory/

When my dishwasher drains both sides of sink fill with water...then they both eventually drain back into the dishwasher.

Sounds like your sink drain trap or line is clogged. When the dishwasher drains, the sink drain can't keep up, the water backs up, then backs down the dishwasher drain line into the dishwasher. You may not notice the slow line when you run a little water into the sink, but with the amount of water coming from the dishwasher the problem is worse. You can try taking off the trap under the sink and making sure it's clear. If the problem is farther down the drain line, you can try snaking it yourself, or call a plumber. I don't recommend using Liquid Plumr or Drano because if those don't work, they leave the line full of caustic chemicals for the next person who works on it. That can be dangeerous.

My mother has cancer so needs me to research her problem with her dishwasher. My mother's sink drain water is emptying into the dishwasher. It has to be manually removed since she does not cook much and...

Problems associated with water from the kitchen sink back filling into the dishwasher are caused by the drain line on the dishwasher not having a high end loop. In simple terms, the dishwasher line is too low and is providing a path for the water to flow in the wrong direction. Reposition the drain line so that it loops just above the sink drain. Then, anchor it to the wall so that it does not move. This will provide and air gap and creates just enough resistance to keep the sink water from entering the dishwasher. I have included a link to a webpage that illustrates what I am referring to:

If you have any further questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If you are experiencing problems with the sink draining as well, then you may have a plumbing releated issue.

I have a problem with my Sears 18" dishwasher. It doesn't get enough water pressure to properly clean the dishes. Should I call an appliance repair person or a plumber?

Hi,
You need to cal an appliance repair professional...the dishwasher fills from the house plumbing, but if it is not washing right that is an internal problen with the dishwasher....probably there is stuff in the pump or the pump is going bad...

Frigidaire dishwasher

Hi psnell,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: water does not drain out

If the motor runs but it won't empty then the pump needs replacement. If the unit washes but the motor won't come on to empty then you have a control problem. The pump is under and requires removing the d/w. The control is in the top of the door. You might consider utilizing the Repair Directory to find a repair man. If the d/w has some years on it you may compare the costs of repair verses replacement.

Either way I don't recomend this repair to the average homeowner. You might consider utilizing our Repair Directory to find a repair man. If the d/w dosen't come on at all then it may be time to consider replacement.
