Moniter E173FPb black screen with green flashing power light that won't turn off unless unplugged

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

rubyreddress, Hi there, Check out my response that I wrote to mccarthympls about his E173FPd black screen problem. You should do a " I HAVE SAME PROBLEM" comment to that also, and do the recommended Flashlight Test and then tell us what you found out. If your monitor was working PERFECTLY the day before, then you might have a shot at having it repaired. Here is what might happen when you show up at the store to trade-in your E173FPd on a new wide-screen unit. The sales guy is going to drop off the E173FPd on the repair tech's bench and then the repair tech will open up your old unit and with a little bit of luck and a soldering iron and $3 to $7 in parts will now have a working monitor that will last another 2-3 years. You too, should visit YOUTUBE and find out whats possibly the problem inside your monitor!! Hope to see your comment. I'm 12fixlouie Bye for now.

WHY IS THE GREEEN POWER BUTTON FLASHING ON MY MONITER AND THE SCREEN THEN GOWS BLACK

When the power light is flashing the monitor is not getting a stable signal. This is hard to answer without direct troubleshooting. Check the cables first, make sure they are connected securely. If you still have problems test another monitor you know works or move monitor to a computer you know works, this will determine if the monitor is the problem or not and tell you if it is your "graphics port or adapter". If another monitor works fine, use the working cables to test the "broken" monitor. If you have an "all-in-one" computer, ignore the above steps and use a start-up repair disk. The reason this is hard to troubleshoot is there are so many things to diagnose. More than likely your "graphics card" is failing. These are some tricks to repair. You can update the driver, buy a graphic card separate from the stock port.

Hi there! You can test first if the monitor is working. Disconnect it from the computer then turn it on after that it should show you colors on the screen this means its working if not then its no use trying it on a different computer.

Hope this helps!

The moniter blacked out, blue light is saying the moniter is still on, but screen looks like there is no power. When you turn on the moniter, the screen shows up for a few seconds, then blacks out again!...

Unplug power. Unplug VGA cable. Remove back of monitor. (four small Philips headed screws along the bottom rear. Remove screws attaching Monitor to it's base. Carefully, lean the screen away from back of case. Gently unplug 25 pin cable from the screen.
Connect AC power.
Screen should power on Gray to White. Ble light comes on Blue.Flickers then changes to Amber.
Reconnect VGA cable. Monitor should work.
Close up the monitor in reverse order to opening it.
If these steps don't solve your monitor, consider replacing as cost of repairs may shock you.

Screen goes black, but power light is on (not blinking)

The problem is not with your screen. Its the problem of Video Card of your system which is unable to send Video Signals to the Screen.

MONITER LIGHT IS GREEN BUT ONLY SHOWS A NORMAL SCREEN FOR 1/2 SECOND THEN TURNS BLACK

HI. I had the same problem with mine. It would flash the screen on for a split second and then turn black, the whole time the power light remained green. Upon opening up the case, I pulled the combo power supply board/inverter board out for inspection. I noticed one of the capacitors had a bulge on top indicating it was bad. It was the the 680uf 25v capacitor. I desoldered it, and soldered in the new one. After hooking everything back up, bingo!! Monitor now works perfectly. I couldn't find an exact match to the capacitance locally, but I had a 1000uf 35v cap in my utility box. It worked fine as a replacement. You can usually go within 30 percent of tolerance and be alright. Just don't go under on capacitance or voltage. I hope this helps.
