Monitor receiving signal, but no image

When switched on, my Acer AL2416W monitor briefly displays the Acer logo and then screen goes black. The power switch on the monitor does not turn orange indicating the monitor has gone into sleep mode - it remains green meaning it is receiving a signal from the computer. Here's the troubleshooting I've done:

- connected monitor to my laptop with original video cable for dual-screen display: worked for a bit and then went black
- swapped out video cable: still black although my laptop seem to think the monitor was still working fine
- set second screen (the monitor) to native resolution (1920 x 1200): still black
- set second screen (the monitor) to low resolution (1024 x 768): still black
- ensured refresh rate was 60Hz on monitor (there were no other settings available)
- connected monitor to a friend's PC with original video cable: still black
- swapped out video cable on friend's PC: still black

Also note that the embedded menu for monitor settings (like contrast, centering, etc) does not display either. At this point, I can pretty much be assured that this is a display problem with the monitor. Any suggestions?

Same problem with the same model "acer" monitor. 3 yrs old. Was told after I purchased it that they were junk. Guess so. Won't be buying another.

Hello!

I see many monitor with that trouble.
When you turn on comp., you can have a picture on monitor about 10-30 min. and that go in black screen, or If you change resolution again go in black screen.
You must repair monitor or bay another.

Screens shows but then gos black

Confirm that all the input cables at the back are securely plugged at the rear of the screen and PC/output source and that the image source is switched on and displaying an image. This can be done by switching your PC on and waiting five mins. Then check that the power for the screen is on. If this does not work, then let me know

My Acer AL2416W is showing a tint of pink in all images I try to display, I have changed the cables with no change. I have taken the monitor to a new computer and it works fine ( no pink at all ). Why is...

The problem is in your old computer, the video graphics card is faulty, you mentioned the monitor was hooked up to the new computer and worked fine.

Screan comes on for 1 second then goes black. switch light showes recieving signal.

This Acer 2416w has problems with weak capacitors on the inverter board causing shorting of the driver FETs. Replacing caps and shorted FETs may solve the malfunction.

My acer AL2416w monitor turns on to a black screen

I have 2 Acer AL2416W monitors that i have been using for 2 years. There has been a handful of times i would turn my computer on in the morning and the screen would be black and Acer would lightly flash on the monitor 1 time. Typically a restart would take care of the problem. Last week the monitor blacked out and i can't get it to work. Any suggestions?? I switched ports on the computer to verify it wasn't the video card and tried new DVI cables to verify it wasn't those? Is this fixable??

Al2416w acer monitor comes on says acer then goes black

dose the standby button go orange, if it dose then the screen is going back in to standy, its possible that your graphics card is having problems, maybe if you put some more informationt about what happens then you could get better help.

Why do I get a "No Signal" on my Acer x193w monitor?

sounds like a video card issue.  Check the screen on another computer.  If it is doing the same thing, it is the monitor.  If it doesn't, then you have a video card issue

Acer LCD Monitor only displays "acer" logo

You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.

Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)

Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..
  1. The internal bios has been corrupted.
  2. The power supply inside the monitor may have issues preventing the video board from starting correctly. This could be as simple as a few failing capacitors.
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.

Computer monitor comes on for 1 seconds, flashes "analog power save mode" and then goes black.

Most monitors will say "Power save mode" when they can tell through residual voltage that the signal lead is plugged into a machine, but there's no picture being transmitted. The four states of a monitor are:

* Off entirely.
* Switched on, plugged into a computer but no video signal being received - usually displays "analog power save mode" or "digital power save mode" for a few seconds, then blanks. Comes back to life the moment a video signal is received. This state is the default in full power saving mode.
* Switched on, not plugged into a computer. Some monitors don't display anything, some go into power saving mode, some fly "CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" or a similar message around the screen. Picture is restored when the signal cable is plugged back into the computer
* On fully, receiving an image, and displaying.

Hope this helps.
