Can't install drivers on Lenovo T 60 after XP Pro reinstall

I reinstalled XP professional on my Lenovo T60 and drivers for the network card and other devices are gone. When I try to reinstall them using drivers downloaded to a flash drive, the system does not recognize them and says "driver not installed." I cannot connect to the internet to download drivers, because I need a driver for the network card to establish a network connection in the first place (classic chicken and egg situation!)

Try reinstalling the driver of your sound card. Then restart your computer. Some audio card failed to recognize certain function that is why you need to reinstall their drivers just to refresh the functionality of the device.

Lenovo WinXP - Ethernet port issue

Hi. Try to check the steps as give below.
  1. Check the ethernet port with other spare wire if you have to check if it is a wire problem or if it is itself your ethernet port.
  2. Try to connect your ethernet port directly to the router to make sure ethernet port is working and there is no connectivity issue with the switch.
  3. Try to check the System BIOS settings and see if it is not disabled from there.
  4. Lastly download any free Live OS of Linux and boot your computer using it. See if the ethernet card is working or not.
Steps from 1-3 is for checking physical connectivity of the ethernet port and the last step is for checking OS issue. If network card do not work with Live OS as well, you can directly come to conclusion that its ethernet card that is not working properly and you need to get is repaired.
Cheers!

I reinstalled XP Pro and I cannot connect to the intern et. It appears I am missing drivers for the Ethernet Controller. What is the simplest solution? Where can I get the driver?

when you update a driver, you also need a cd installer. If you lost the cd installer of the product, you really have to do the worst thing.: search and search for the drivers over the internet until you find it. Goodluck men..!

Reinstalled Windows XP no ethernet card

Hi,

It seems that after re-installing windows you have missed the Driver installation for your hardware. If you have a disk (which reads Drivers and Utilities) that came with your computer, You can insert it in your CD Driver and select the Driver for Network adapter. If you do not have a disc, you can always visit the Dell's support site i.e.:support.dell.com and Get the drivers suitable for your hardware by selecting the model or Entering the Service Tag of your Dell computer.

For your convenience I am providing below the link for Drivers for Dimension 4700 Desktop PC as you have mentioned.
Intel (R) PRO/100 Driver for Dimension 4700

Hope you find this information helpful.

I reinstalled Windows XP to my computer and now i cant get the internet. There is a yellow question mark and exlmation point next to Ethernet Controller and it has a code 28 error.

You should have had 2 cds that came with your computer. The 2nd one has all the drivers on it. Install the drivers and your problem will go away.

Fail to dected sound card and wireless network card.

You probably have to download and install the drivers again. when I repaired Xp I had to reinstall all 15 or so drivers. You can get them on Lenovo web page under support and downloads. Make sure you select the correct laptop model and stuff, or else one single wrong driver can make you need to reinstall the whole operating system again (been there). I only had some issues with the wireles (Broadcom), but works fine now. Or did, till I flashed bios and the laptop went coo-coo (stil working on that in FixYa)
