I've never heard of a 1HD wheel chair and I've been at this for a long time. Assuming it's a Pride Heavy Duty (HD) then you would start by disconnecting the joystick from the base by unplugging it at the rear of the base, and cut any nylon cable ties holding the joystick cable in place to the base. Then remove the seat. Depending on the model, you can do this either with a lever on the side that unlocks the seat to allow it to pivot. If yours has this lever, unlock and turn the seat very slightly, then lift up with a **** with both hands and it should come off after a few good tugs...some need more coaxing. If the seat is a "post-mounted" seat, you will see it attached to the base with four posts at each corner and there should be a retaining ring holding the posts together. Remove the pins and lift the seat off(helps to have two people). It may have a rear locking seat where you release the front mechanism under the front of the seat and tilt the seat up, then slide the seat slightly forward and lift up. These are the only three ways I've seen a seat attached to a base. Once the seat is off, you need to remove the shroud covering the batteries. Many are simply held on with velcro, so if you don't see any screws holding the shroud on, just lift up on it and pull it away from the velcro. If there are screws, remove them to lift off the shroud. Now you will see the batteries. Disconnect both of them and move the wiring out of the way. Remove the front battery, then the rear, and replace with new batteries and reassemble. The seat and batteries are pretty heavy, so it is nice to have a helper.

Wheel chair will not turn left

Check for intermittent left motor wire connectivity at 4-pin connectors red and black wires. This is a common issue with this model: motor power wires break inside the wires insulation causing jerking and eventual stopping of motor. Motor resistance should read between 1 and 3 ohms. If this is the issue have the motor rebuilt.

Pride JET 3 Ultra power wheelchair. Problem: Batteries drain very fast after recommended charge. Things I have done: Replaced both batteries- twice; Replace On-board charger. Both items brand new. ...

check the motor brushes if they are 1/4 inch or less replace them. Next, after driving the chair for a while check the motor casing near the brake assemblies on the rear of each motor if the casing is hot then you have a sticking brake pad or pads and this can cause the excess battery drain. If you have sticking brake or brakes unfortunately the whole motor assembly will have to be changed Hope this helps

I have a Jazzy 1103 Ultra and the lights are all on like it should be but the chair will not move. I am in Mississippi visiting my daughter and would love someone to help me. Thanks!

It could be a few things.
It might be on freewheel. To solve this: 1. Turn the chair off. 2. Locate the freewheel lever just behind the drive wheel, and on top of the motor. 3. Push the lever inward to engage the motors. 4. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other side. 5. Turn the chair on and see if it works .
If not, it the circuit breaker might need to be reset because of heavy strain on the motors and batteries. To solve this: 1. Turn the chair off. 2. Find the circuit breaker on the front of the case, off to the right side (you will see a hole in the case) 3. Press the circuit breaker button. 4. Turn the chair on and see if it works.
if not, the battery may need to be disconnected and reconnected To do this 1. Turn the chair off 2. Release the friction lock lever under the seat. 3. Remove the seat. 4. Release the rear shroud fastener and the yellow fastener under the front shroud. 5. Remove the shroud. 6. Disconnect and reconnect the battery connector (the big plug) 7. Replace the shroud and seat. 8. Turn the chair on and see if it works.
If not, contact your provider.
