My Electrolux Epic 6500 SR will not turn off by pressing on the switch button. I took it apart and removed the switch assy. I can maunually turn it off & on by pressing the rocker arm on the switch assy. It appears that the problem is with the big blue operator button, not the switch assy itself. The button does not seem to press down enough to cause the rocker arm to switch. The button has a "U" shaped wire that presses on the rocker arm and it may have some broken plastic details at the base of the "U" wire. Right now I can use the vac by setting the switch to "on", reassembling the vac and pulling the power cord out to turn it off. Please let me know what part(s) to order to fix it. WOW !!! Finally You are dead on, absolutely 100%.... good work!!!.

Get only a genuine new switch button with spring from an AERUS Electrolux dealer and reinstall.
Then carefully reassemble the entire body and wiring harness.
Congratulations getting there.... you rate as an honorary technical genius in my book,...Your wife should be bragging about you to her friends. I am genuinely impressed and I`ve been fixing these since 1990. I bow in your presence.
PS while youre in there, check the rocker for evidence of fatigue, it is the more common issue

Testimonial: "Thanks for your speedy reply and diagnosis. I will get the operator button and also the rocker part while I am at it. "

I had the exact same issue. I replaced broken rocker switch, put everything back together what looks correctly, but the unit still will come on when plugged in and will not turn off. I was wondering whether the rocker should be in the "up" position or "down" when you reassemble the unit? And where does that rubber piece go? It looks like a thin three inch solid rubber tube, it was already out when I dissembled. Thank you for any pointers here.

Accessory compatibility between Electrolux Models 1521 and Epic 6500 SR

No, they have different connectors. 1521 uses a pigtail hose that has little metal clips. 6500 has a plastic end with an arrow that helps guide you for proper placement. Unfortunately you will need 2 separate hoses for the respective models.

What does the warning light with question mark mean on the Electrolux Epic 6500 SR canister?

It means to check the bag. Your bag is either missing or misaligned and has slipped past the little clear sensor or bag lockout plunger in the corner of the bag chamber at the door.
Remove the bag turn on the vac and push this switch, the vac should start when the switch is depressed. If not the internal switch inside the vac is misaligned or damaged. Please post back to confirm how you make out

Parts for Electrolux Epic 6500

You need to look under AERUS Electrolux to find a Dealer with parts.
Electrolux USA sold the brand name back to AB Electrolux of Sweden a few years ago and there is no relation between the two.
You may also find a common component of a different color at a Tri Star dealer as they shared some power head and hose technology in the era of the EPIC although they don`t tell people that

My Electrolux upright worked fine

Are you using the proper bag? There's a kill/reset switch that needs to be pushed down by the rim of the bag before the unit will run.
