WOW !!! Finally You are dead on, absolutely 100%.... good work!!!.
Get only a genuine new switch button with spring from an AERUS Electrolux dealer and reinstall.
Then carefully reassemble the entire body and wiring harness.
Congratulations getting there.... you rate as an honorary technical genius in my book,...Your wife should be bragging about you to her friends. I am genuinely impressed and I`ve been fixing these since 1990. I bow in your presence.
PS while youre in there, check the rocker for evidence of fatigue, it is the more common issue
Testimonial: "Thanks for your speedy reply and diagnosis. I will get the operator button and also the rocker part while I am at it. "
I had the exact same issue. I replaced broken rocker switch, put everything back together what looks correctly, but the unit still will come on when plugged in and will not turn off. I was wondering whether the rocker should be in the "up" position or "down" when you reassemble the unit? And where does that rubber piece go? It looks like a thin three inch solid rubber tube, it was already out when I dissembled. Thank you for any pointers here.
