It sounds like your lamp needs replacing. It is a very simple procedure if you haven't done it before.

I unscrewed the panels on both sides of the tv to find out that the lamp was not turning on. What I did was I got my broom, tapped the lamp with it about 3 times when it was turned on, turned it off, tapped the lamp 3 more times, turned the tv on and it started working again.

1) test the power supply for shot and open in the transformer+coil +filter+diode+rectifier+,fuse blown replace with the same capacity!+c.breaker tripped , reset.
2) test the HV horizontal output short or defective + Flyback short or defective Horizontal output +125Vdc+Vertical output +80Vdc+12Vdc colors+12vdc all other circuit for to CRT.
Remember the first thing do will have is RASTER.

Ballast Board needs to be replaced it is what turns Lamp on. 1-800-638-3328 Be sure that Lamp Fan is running or TV will not come on.

Yes,the lamp require changing,life span is over.

with lamp out (door closed) the ballast should "strike" or give an arc sound, trying to fire the lamp. If it does not do that maybe the color wheel is not spinning up - has to do that first.........then the set will try to fire the lamp

defininatly the fan that cools the lamps is either not working or going out and needs replaced
