These cleaning systems are prone to many problems. If the shaver will charge directly from the cord but not the stand, your stand is faulty. They are not repairable since parts are not available. A new stand can be found at shaveroutlet.com if needed
If the charger is 100 to 240VAC, it should work. USA use 110 volt so the charger should be OK with 240. The UK charger will probably have a UK 3 pin plug on it. If you use it in the US, you will have to change the plug again or buy an international adaptor which can be adapted to fit most outlets anywhere in the World.
In that case, the circuit board in also bad. This happens when the batteries aren't changed in a timely manner. You can buy a circuit board with batteries at shaveroutlet.com. See link below.
To open the shaver you will need to remove the two plastic screw covers on the bottom on either side of the port where the plug fits in. Then remove the screws underneath. The outer case will then slide off the bottom. You may need to reposition the travel lock to get it all the way of. Then unsnap the black plastic back of the inner case and remove it. You can then lift out the old circuit board. Reassemble in reverse order.

Here's a link to their site where you'll find part #5646768 for about $38 for a new set of the cutter head and foil (screen). It's always best to replace BOTH the foil and cutter block (head) at the same time, as any mircro burrs or nicks in the cutter blades will quickly ruin any new foil screen.

Since I have never dissembled this model ask Shaver Outlet via e-mail if you buy the parts from them. They have been most helpful to me.
If you are unable to get the part directly from BRAUN by calling 1-800-272-8611 (if your machine still falls within the warranty they will usually replace it for free) then I would recommend that you try Ebay as corny as it sounds because you could likely buy a used/new set for not much more than you would pay for the "ordered part" from replacement part sites.
Also, if Braun no longer carries the part you need you could also try asking them if they have a diffuser from a different model that would work with your machine.
