Bass will be anything below 300Hz, mid will be 300Hz to 5KHz (Voice), above 5KHz will be Treble.

Fostex MR 8 HD\CD adding treble and bass?

It APPEARS that the MR8 does NOT include the ability to EQ. They have delay effects and the like built in, but no EQ.

To answer your question then, you would need to have an EXTERNAL EQ unit and loop the vocal through that unit to do EQ to do it right.

When mastering, the "powerful/natural/and bright would be filters that will emphasize the bass (powerful) or the treble (bright) but these are really not EQ's and you can ONLY choose one at a time.

How do i adjust the treb/bass?

my initial reply was...On the function button you may need to depress it for 3 seconds to activate base, treble, balance etc But
then I found this, "Rotary Volume Control: The CD receiver uses a 7-way rotary volume control that increases and decreases the volume of the stereo from 0 to 35. The rotary knob also controls other audio settings such as Balance, Fader, Bass, Mid, Treble and preset EQ settings. In addition, the rotary knob allows you to scroll through and select your music tracks when the Music Search function is activated.
Cheers, this should help ya.

I bought a car with the stereo LG XDSS+ LAC4700R and its really great, trouble is i can't seem to find anywhere to turn the bass down and struggling to save the radio stations - got no instructions you...

Pressing the SEL button doesn't bring up, a Treble/Bass option, well, certainly not on my model, which I inherited when I bought my car a few weeks back.
I found this question when I came across the same issue myself and the original poster has probably solved it by now.
There are a lot of buttons on the unit but I discovered, after a lot of messing around and eq/XDSS button on the lower right hand side of the unit, which when pressed hard and held down, will "take out" the XDSS option, which I think supplies the "excessive" bass.
You can then press it once again and scroll through a number of EQ options which will further deal with the problem.
There are 2 "User" EQ options, which, with a bit of playing about with, will probably give you the perfect Treble/Bass set up you want, though I haven't had time to play with them, or work them out, yet.
Therefore, I have the EQ set to "Pop," which gives me a much better sound all round.

Having Trouble Accessing Bass and Treble Controls

Only parametric EQ OR Bass/Treble can be active at a time. There is a option to set which one you want, refer to manual. Follow this- Adjusting Sound Setting Mode (long press "sound-mode" button) -> EQ SELECT-> select either P. EQ or B/T

I cannot get the functions on the remote to operate.ie pbass dsp/eq etc?

The P.BASS function is only available with 2 channel LPCM sources such as mp3,Divx,cd
and wma. Press P.BASS button and "POWER BASS ON" will be displayed on the screen.
The P.bass does not work with DSP/EQ or DOLBY PRO LOGIC ll modes.
If you press P.BASS in the DSP/EQ mode, the DSP/EQ mode is automatically shut off and the P. BASS function comes on.
The DSP/EQ function is only available in STEREO mode.
Press the PL ii mode button to show STEREO on the display.
This feature works with CDs, MP3-CDs, 2 channel DVD-Audio, DivX and Dolby Digital discs.
When playing a DVD disc encoded with two or more channels, multi-channel mode will be selected automatically and DSP/EQ function does not work.

I want to get the metallica sound from my marshall AVT50

Use the high gain channel. Set the bass to 8-10 set set the mids to 6-7 and the treble to taaste to cut through. Also turn the contour all the way up. To gice that scooped mid sound. Or use the celan channel on the amp and run a boss metal zone pedal through it. Set amps clean channel EQ to flat ( at 5) and the metal zones controls. Treble to taste for a good bite, bass up to the point were it wont fart out on your amp, sweep the mids outer knob set about 5-7 and the inner knob to about 4. Set prescence for clearity and the distortion level as high as you can stand it.

Setting low pass and bass eq

Hello, i have a hifonics brutus also, in the manual it states to set the eq at half way, so that there is no clipping or at least to prevent clipping , the eq will make the bass punchier, if you do go pass half way, i would recommend to readjust your gain settings, also check your head unit settings and make sure everything is flat, bass, mid bass etc. example i had my eq past half but i had my gain at mid way, it was hitting hard, then i tried turning the eq all the way down and the turning up the gain and the bass was smoother so it depends where you set it, and what settings you have on your head unit tone control (bass, treble etc)

Bass frequncy

Hi there,
Although I am not familiar with the Zoom HD 8 Track I am a former sound engineer so may be able to offer some general advice.
Firstly, because the wave pattern of low frequencies is very long, there are a number of things that will greatly effect bass response caused by standing waves.
1) The position of your bass monitors. Ideally these should be low down but not directly on the floor, especially if the flooring is wooden.
2) Try your monitors/speakers at a slightly different angle. Bass can bounce off walls, back towards the sound source and phase out the signal, rather like a noise cancelling system.
3) Try listening to the sound in different areas of the room. You will be amazed at how the sound pressure level will vary, simply by you moving from one position to another.
4) Never put bass tracks exactly at centre, always offset them slighly by a few degrees left or right.
5) Do some of your mixing using headphones, you will not have to worry about standing waves. But remember that things sound very different on speakers in free space.
Strangely, the reason you are getting distortion when you turn things up is probably because your bass is on the verge of over modulation to start with. Really bass is felt, not heard. You could try is to decrease your mid and high frequencies a little. The ratio between high frequencies and low ones will then increase by default and your bass may feel heavier.
What are you mixing?
